Knit with a silent K. Never too old to learn new tricks. Crafty To-do list →. The rarest of crafting illnesses. August 27, 2016. I have a case of a rare disease called “Finish-itis”. Knitters are extremely vulnerable to “Start-itis”. For those who are immune to it, it’s where you cannot help but cast on new projects as more and more UFOs (unfinished objects) pile up next to your couch. 1 pair of socks. 1 pair of fingerless mitts. 1 pair of mittens. A mistake by any other name | Knit with a silent K

Knit with a silent K. Never too old to learn new tricks. Color blocking Stowe →. A mistake by any other name. September 12, 2016. I’ve made a lot of mistakes when I’m sewing. I notice that I never want to write or talk about the things that went wrong. I know that making the mistakes means I learned something new about what doesn’t work but it feels like a failure. For example, I’m working on another Sorbetto top. This one is in a lighter fabric. The mistakes I have made (gulp). And tagged Bernina 880.

Knit with a silent K. Never too old to learn new tricks. Newer posts →. Sewing with Knits…Part 1. August 15, 2016. As I’ve started sewing again, I’ve realized I’ve been staying towards the easiest of fabrics to sew – cotton quilting fabric mostly. Which is great for bags and some of the skirts I’ve made but it’s time to get some drapier choices. Double fold continuous bias tape. August 14, 2016. I’m using this photo tutorial for cutting the strips. There are many times when a photo tutorial is better tha...

Knit with a silent K. Never too old to learn new tricks. I learned to sew from my mom as a child. I quickly started making my own patterns. But sewing machines and small apartments in New York City did not mix. Looking for a more portable and social hobby, I picked up knitting needles almost 20 years ago and have not put them down since. I am easily distracted by shiny, sparkling pretty yarn. Bullet Journaling might be my spirit animal. February 19, 2017. Jet Lag:the ultimate productivity cure. I fell in...

October 13, 2016. I’ll start with the couples. This will be the Saturday night costume. I gave Adam some options and he process of eliminated until we landed on Popeye and Olive Oyl! For me, it’s a bit more elaborate. I found this hair tutorial:. It’s not the most super accurate, but it’s cute, and I’m loving it! I’m probably going to do my makeup similar, but not exactly the same. Red lips are a must though! I’m also going to try to find some big yellow stud earrings. This brings us to Monday night,.

High Waisted Bikini Bottoms. High Waisted Bikini Bottoms. August 9, 2016. I recently went on an amazing “camping” trip- we went up to Shuswap and stayed in a gorgeous hostel on a lake there. (I wrote about it on my travel blog, and you can read that post here. When I mean on a lake, I mean on a lake. It was literally highway, caboose dorms, lake. It was beautiful. In fact, I even had a swimwear pattern I bought a while back- M6759. Now, there are billions of tutorials that show you how to make a pattern ...

Kwik Sew Summer 2016. Kwik Sew Summer 2016. July 4, 2016. June 30, 2016. Yes there is. Kwik Sew, also under the McCall’s name has some! This is one of those wardrobe builder patterns. It’s a basic wrap dress. You could make tons of them in different colours. The racerback’s cute, the wrap is cute. In summer it’s great with patterns, in winter in a solid colour with black tights and a more interesting cardigan or blazer. Honestly, who doesn’t love a wrap dress? 8221; and more like “work the height! Well, ...

Warm and Cosy Without A Stitch In Sight. Warm and Cosy Without A Stitch In Sight. November 15, 2016. November 15, 2016. I used this plaid wool suiting that I got online for $5/metre 8 years ago. I used to buy fabric while sitting at fashion school. Sometimes I got amazing deals. I pretty much just oragami folded it to get a square and cut it. Plaid gives wonderful cutting because you don’t really need draw much, just know what line you’re cutting on! I love a good frayed edge. Maria and… Luigia?

McCall’s Summer 2016 – Bows and Buttons

McCall’s Summer 2016. McCall’s Summer 2016. June 30, 2016. June 30, 2016. I’m starting with McCall’s as I have a major soft spot for them. When I opened this I went straight to the line drawings as I always do. I was like “….we don’t need a pattern for these.” Then I saw it was a learn to sew for fun. The dresses are cute, the maxi with the elasticized waist would be great. For a seasoned sewist? But, line drawings! Hmm…. This is… it’s kind of boring. I see where they were going...My Aunt actually bought...
