Knit with a silent K. Never too old to learn new tricks. The rarest of crafting illnesses. A mistake by any other name →. August 27, 2016. I learned to sew from my mom as a child. I quickly started making my own patterns. But sewing machines and small apartments in New York City did not mix. Looking for a more portable and social hobby, I picked up knitting needles almost 20 years ago and have not put them down since. I am easily distracted by shiny, sparkling pretty yarn. Knit with a silent K. Never too old to learn new tricks. Newer posts →. Sewing with Knits…Part 1. August 15, 2016. As I’ve started sewing again, I’ve realized I’ve been staying towards the easiest of fabrics to sew – cotton quilting fabric mostly. Which is great for bags and some of the skirts I’ve made but it’s time to get some drapier choices. Double fold continuous bias tape. August 14, 2016. I’m using this photo tutorial for cutting the strips. There are many times when a photo tutorial is better tha...

Creating, Crafting, and Catching On. Learning to Quilt- Part 1, The Fanciest Foxes. September 30, 2016. September 29, 2016. I really never had any interest in quilting. I love to make garments, to be able to wear my creations and even brag a little! However, when my mom mentioned learning to quilt together, I suddenly became very interested. I love my mom and we do not get to spend nearly enough time together, though we talk every day (usually twice! And even though after just making a fox themed project.

Knit with a silent K. Never too old to learn new tricks. A mistake by any other name. September 12, 2016. I’ve made a lot of mistakes when I’m sewing. I notice that I never want to write or talk about the things that went wrong. I know that making the mistakes means I learned something new about what doesn’t work but it feels like a failure. For example, I’m working on another Sorbetto top. This one is in a lighter fabric. The mistakes I have made (gulp). 8221; (i.e. mistake). 8221; (i.e. mistake). 1 pai...
