G4VXE.COM: Raspberry Pi 2 ordered
http://g4vxe.blogspot.com/2015/02/raspberry-pi-2-ordered.html
Amateur Radio - or at least, my version of it. Monday, February 02, 2015. Raspberry Pi 2 ordered. I was excited to see the Raspberry Pi 2 announced today. One is on the way. It will be interesting to see how it works out - particularly for some of the more heavy duty apps I have tried in the past such as FLDigi. A new version of the OS compiled for the new processor is required and can be downloaded here. More news when it arrives! Never used FLDIGI before but working on BPSK31 on 40m RX a treat! Julian,...

G4VXE.COM: Raspberry Pi2 up and running; DUMP1090, Piaware, GPredict as well as browsing the web
http://g4vxe.blogspot.com/2015/02/raspberry-pi2-up-and-running-dump1090.html
Amateur Radio - or at least, my version of it. Saturday, February 07, 2015. Raspberry Pi2 up and running; DUMP1090, Piaware, GPredict as well as browsing the web. The Raspberry Pi2 was delivered very quickly - thank you CPC! However, owing to a bit of silliness on my part I didn't get it running until today. I'd assumed - always a dangerous thing - that the Pi2 used an SD card for its storage, like the Pi. Oh no it doesn't! Then I installed RTLSDR and tested it, without any problems. I installed DUMP...

G4VXE.COM: 70MHz cumulative - and more SSTV from the ISS
http://g4vxe.blogspot.com/2015/02/70mhz-cumulative-and-more-sstv-from-iss.html
Amateur Radio - or at least, my version of it. Sunday, February 22, 2015. 70MHz cumulative - and more SSTV from the ISS. Randomly, I was browsing through Facebook this morning and I noticed Paul G4RRA say that he was about to drive up to the site for the RSGB 70MHz cumulatives. The keyer on the NR4SC's timing is just a little different to the others I have here and it takes a moment to adjust my sending to suit). What was particularly nice was that the operator at G4TSW was Paul, G4RRA! So, enjoyable to ...

G4VXE.COM: What I've been playing with over Christmas and New Year (anyone want a nice FT1000MP?)
http://g4vxe.blogspot.com/2015/01/what-ive-been-playing-with-over.html
Amateur Radio - or at least, my version of it. Saturday, January 03, 2015. What I've been playing with over Christmas and New Year (anyone want a nice FT1000MP? With my return to work on the horizon on Monday, I've been thinking about what a nice holiday I've had. Although I've had to do a bit of work here and there, it's not been too onerous which has been welcome. Fun to play with for something different! I've upgraded the station logging program, uLog from M0PZT. Who has a new release out. Which is a ...

G4VXE.COM: First garden portable activity of the year on SO-50
http://g4vxe.blogspot.com/2015/01/first-garden-portable-activity-of-year.html
Amateur Radio - or at least, my version of it. Sunday, January 25, 2015. First garden portable activity of the year on SO-50. Yesterday, it was a cold but dry day and I thought it would be fun to go out in the garden and see what I could hear and work on SO-50. I quickly put a bit of charge into the UV-5R portable and assembled the Elk yagi. Really enjoyable and not too cold. Youd probably be able to make some half duplex contacts on FO-29 too with the same antenna. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

G4VXE.COM: First impressions of the Noble Radio NR4SC 70MHz CW/SSB rig
http://g4vxe.blogspot.com/2014/09/first-impressions-of-noble-radio-nr4sc.html
Amateur Radio - or at least, my version of it. Saturday, September 27, 2014. First impressions of the Noble Radio NR4SC 70MHz CW/SSB rig. After my post mentioning the release of the new Noble 70MHz rig, I very quickly had an email from Rob PE9PE. Rob and I operated together on the FSDXA trip to the Comoros, D68C. Rob is involved with Noble Radio in Europe and offered me the chance to take a look at one of the first NR4SC radios. Of course, I said yes! The keyer socket on the rig is for a 3.5mm jack r...

G4VXE.COM: How had I missed this? The FT-8900 does AM on 28MHz!
http://g4vxe.blogspot.com/2014/11/how-had-i-missed-this-ft-8900-does-am.html
Amateur Radio - or at least, my version of it. Sunday, November 02, 2014. How had I missed this? The FT-8900 does AM on 28MHz! How long have I had my FT-8900? Four, five years, maybe? Of course I knew it received AM on air band and have used it on there from time to time, but it never occurred to me that it would work on 29MHz. Menu item #45 was quickly found AM on off - which allowed me to toggle AM on to 29MHz. Another option for using AM on 29MHz. Thanks Richard! Oh dear - this turns out to be wrong!
