Making It Bright: Finding Nemo Birthday Party - Details

http://www.makingitbright.com/2014/10/finding-nemo-birthday-party-details.html

Finding Nemo Birthday Party - Details. Here are the details on my little man's 3rd birthday party. If you recall from the teaser post. We were all Nemo (or "Mee-mo" as he calls him). Unfortunately, we were so busy having fun with friends and family that we failed to take a lot of pictures. I guess that's the best indication of a successful party. I used the clearance stickers, some blue and white bakers twine, and tags made from orange paper with my tag punch to make cute "Thanks for swimming by! Over th...

Making It Bright: Practicing Gratitude

http://www.makingitbright.com/2014/11/practicing-gratitude.html

Every day should be a day of thanksgiving. Count your many blessings. Be thankful for what you have. I hear all of these sayings and agree with them. Then I feel guilty. Can't control their desires when we as adults have problems with it too? Like many of my Facebook friends, I've been posting daily what I'm thankful for during the month of November. It's a good exercise and one that I think should be year-round. Maybe I need a gratitude journal. How do you practice gratitude? What I'm Reading Now. Unaut...

Making It Bright: DIY: Give Thanks Burlap Craft

http://www.makingitbright.com/2014/11/diy-give-thanks-burlap-craft.html

DIY: Give Thanks Burlap Craft. Before I completely skip over Thanksgiving as a holiday for decorating, I thought I'd share a quick craft project I made for our entry. An important reminder to be thankful. I had this 6 in x 8 in burlap panel in my craft. Hoard that I'd picked up on clearance from Hobby Lobby a few months ago. Trace it onto the freezer paper and carefully cut out the letters, saving the insides on the "g", "e", and "a". A simple Thanksgiving craft that you could keep on display year round!

Making It Bright: DIY: Halloween Fun

http://www.makingitbright.com/2014/10/diy-halloween-fun.html

Getting ready for Halloween? Some good Trick-or-Treat fun? My kids cannot wait this year. The little man just keeps talking about his "pumpkin bucket" and getting candy from our neighbors. I'll post about our little pirate and pink cat (her idea) next week. Today I'm serving up some Halloween DIY projects. Who doesn't have one of these clear glass pumpkins? My grandmother gave me this one years ago. And I found this Looking Glass paint from Krylon on clearance at Meijer a few weeks ago. Shriners Hospital...

Sunday, September 5, 2010. Shirt Re-Fashion for Shiloh. I thought i'd share this "upcycle" that i did last night. i was going through my closet and realized that i NEVER wear this shirt. it's made of pretty nice material, it's a decent design, it just doesn't fit me quite right and it's a little uncomfortable. soooo, i decided to give it a new life as a dress for shiloh. She wore it to church this morning. Yeah, okay, i'm corny.). Friday, September 3, 2010. Of whether or not she reads my blog! And i'm no...

Friday, August 23, 2013. Long Overdue Part 1. SarahMae. Asleep. Half-standing. :o). Random series of photos we took at a restaurant. I remember she was asking me for something, ("Please? But I can't remember what. I'm sure I said yes. SarahMae couldn't be left out. :o). Shiloh and I went on an amphibian walk at a local state park. She had a total blast. They had an introductory lecture and we got to hike the grounds. It was fun. Not really my thing, but definitely Shiloh's. :o). My goofs. :o). And we can...

Friday, March 16, 2012. Feed Your Family for $100/week? Plus a bit more of my Celiac story). I know that put in global perspective, $100 is quite a bit of money and we should all be able to feed our family for that amount. But in America, with fuel and food prices being the way they are, is that really reasonable? I was prompted by this blog post. But, there's a backstory (Isn't there always? Bring it back to the original topic. To the Standard American Diet. Here's our menu for the next two weeks, from ...

Monday, June 30, 2014. She's three years old! How did that happen so fast? Before I jump in with pictures, I started a birthday questionnaire this year with her. I know I've seen lots of people do this, but I always forget, so I think I'm going to start it this year with both girls. It's in her own words, so it's pretty funny and sweet, too. :o). What is your favorite color? Pink And blue, black brown. What is your favorite book? Said Eddie. 'I'm scared already! I want my bed, I want my teddy! Twist on t...

We woke up this morning to frozen water pipes. completely frozen. we think we know where the problem is and we're working on fixing it, but for right now, none of the faucets work, we can't flush the toilet, etc. This makes me angry. as if my house wasn't already a mess, i now can't do my dishes, do laundry, etc. I have many things to do before we leave for kentucky on thursday that are compeltely on my shoulders. hence, the messy house. It's driving me crazy.

We remembered the camcorder, though - can't win 'em all. ). The first picture is shiloh with one of her dance instructors, Miss Megan. Saturday, January 28, 2012. So, ignore the fact that i haven't posted in almost a year and let's focus on the food we made today. :o). As many of you probably know since we're all friends on FB, Shiloh and I are now gluten-free. This means coming up with other creative ways to eat super yummy food. Because, like her mother, Shiloh is a fan of super. Tell you that I cheated and used a bread-machine (I'm not that. The God-Made Family: Makeup Mishaps and Fun

http://thepetersenzoo.blogspot.com/2014/07/makeup-mishaps-and-fun.html

Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Makeup Mishaps and Fun. I left the house this afternoon with makeup on only half of my face. This is the kind of day we've had today. And yesterday, really. The van needed repairs yesterday and they gave us a loaner vehicle, a Toyota Prius. I was surprised how much I liked it, but it was so. I couldn't figure anything out! I was sitting in a parking lot, on the phone with the dealership, telling them that the car wasn't working because it was making no noise whatsoever. More ofte...

MAKING IT BLISSFUL | handmade happiness

October 28, 2014. Got myself a domain name and start off afresh HERE. August 7, 2014. My version of chicken stew uses lesser meat and I am glad that my family is consuming more vegetables than meat. This chicken stew basically needs only carrots, potatoes and chicken meat. Other ingredients that would be great with this recipe includes celery, firm tofu and zucchini. I usually see what’s left in the fridge, to vary the dish slightly. 1 chicken breast, chopped into bite size. 2 tablespoons cooking oil.

Making it Click: New Technologies for the Classroom - Home

Making it Click: New Technologies for the Classroom. A New Media in Education. Every day, it seems, a new means of communication surfaces to reshape the ways people interact. For some, such rapid change can be disorienting. In fact, at first even the written word was not taken seriously as an effective medium of communication. The way the clicker works as a tool for communication is simple: a professor adds discussion questions to a presentation, and then, when the issue comes up in class, students use t...

Living Life Somewhere in Between Norman Rockwell and Lord of The Flies. Once there was a lady who had been given a box of orange cake mix and some orange store bought frosting by her mother in law. She fully intended to make cupcakes one day. Sure, they wouldn’t be homemade but the kids would still eat them, and so would she. After a while the lady brought the cake back inside where her husband asked her if it was a chocolate cake. This earned him a dirty look. I know it’s already August, but who c...
