TheRetiredNester: Frustrated with Annie Sloan Wax
http://theretirednester.blogspot.com/2013/02/frustrated-with-annie-sloan-wax.html
Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Frustrated with Annie Sloan Wax. Anyone else having difficulty with waxing on Graphite? I painted this 25$ chest with Graphite and used only the clear wax on it, it shows smears when I rub my finger across the surface. I have used the wax on Duck Egg Blue and Versaille without any problem. I'm wondering if the different colors absorb the wax differently. Have you had trouble with the wax on Graphite? Friday, December 9, 2011. This is from the latest Christmas Ideas Magazine by Better Homes and Gardens, I'm going to try and copy this for this years front door wreath. I like it's simplicity and the silver color. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Blog Listhttp:/ myloveaffairwiththriftshops.blogspot.com/. Happy New Year Candles. Where does time go? TheRetiredNester: August 2011
http://theretirednester.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2011. New chairs and lots to do. The chairs look so different in person, the color is off here and you barely see the design but you get the idea, lots more to do on this room, it seems each new thing I add makes me want to change more in the room, will I ever be satisfied? The brown chair is the partner chair I made for my brother, side of the road find painted and reupholstered. A day to Remember. Did he really think I was going to stay there? What jumped at me? I was terrified I ...

TheRetiredNester: Side of the road dresser find, painted with ASCP
http://theretirednester.blogspot.com/2012/10/side-of-road-dresser-find-painted-with.html
Thursday, October 4, 2012. Side of the road dresser find, painted with ASCP. I haven't been able to blog in ages, I finally diagnosed my problem, I wasn't using google chrome. So, now that I have worked that out I can play catch up. This is my first ASCP project, part of a bedroom suite that some fool threw out! I also picked up the armoire, dressing table and mirror and head and foot board. Hopefully, I'll be getting to the head and footboard soon, it's the only piece I'm keeping for myself.

TheRetiredNester: March 2013
http://theretirednester.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 3, 2013. A couple of changes. I bought the very old lace panel at an estate sale a few years ago, finally got around to repairing it. Lots of sewing to put it back together but I can't even see where I repaired it. A little skimpy for the bathroom window but I love the look when the sun shines through the window. I painted the background of the secretary with ASCP Primer Red. Still can't decide if it's too dark or not. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Happy New Year Candles. Where does time go?

TheRetiredNester: No cost coffee filter wreath
http://theretirednester.blogspot.com/2013/02/no-cost-coffee-filter-wreath.html
Wednesday, February 27, 2013. No cost coffee filter wreath. Click on picture to enlarge. I have seen these coffee filter wreaths around blogland for a while and finally accumulated enough used coffee filters to make my own. Simple, simple, simple! A metal hanger twisted to a circle, which was the most difficult part of this project, staple the coffee filters on and added 3 music paper bird cut outs. I have enough filters left to make another to give away. Fun, easy project. Happy New Year Candles.

TheRetiredNester: April 2012
http://theretirednester.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 29, 2012. Another side of the road find. I found this lovely lamp on the side of the road during bulk pickup days, it's seen better days but I knew I could make it shine again. A few coats of Oil rubbed bronze paint, a new 20$ shade and I have a new lamp! Linking up with Southern Hospitality's Thrifty Treasures. Monday, April 16, 2012. More bulk pickup side of the road finds. Neat desk, the top folds down and lies flat, neat little cubbies too. Chair in perfect shape. Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Monday, March 19, 2012. I finished this piece last week and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Love the colors and the texture of the glass I used. Tuesday, March 13, 2012. A wee bit of St. Patrick's Day decor. Friends gave me this little leprechaun many years ago and I bring him out every year. I added some moss and beading and a tag that Dee from Alapinlife blog sent me. I use this basket each seaon in my mudroom, just change out the flowers. Friday, March 9, 2012. My new "antique" mirror!
