Hi, I’m Zach Dearth and welcome to Zach’s Corner! Here you’ll find some interesting things about me like what I enjoy doing as a kid, some photos of me with friends and family, and a regular update (blog) on how I’m fighting Hunter Syndrome and how it’s affecting me. We are both very excited about the new school year, especially since we will be going to the same school. Wanna know more about me? I was diagnosed with Hunter Syndrome in July 2005. I am currently in second grade. I like watching movies.

Hunter syndrome, or mucopolysaccharidosis II (MPS II), is a serious genetic disorder that primarily affects males. It interferes with the body's ability to break down and recycle specific mucopolysaccharides (mew-ko-pol-ee-sak-ah- rides), also known as glycosaminoglycans (gli-ko-sah-mee-no-gli-cans) or GAG. Hunter Syndrome Research Coalition is a program of the nonprofit Saving Case and Friends that seeks to bring together foundations with a goal of funding research toward a cure for Hunter Syndrome through collaborative fundraising, advocacy, and support efforts. The Coalition consists of three different types of collaborators – members, alliance partners, and families. These families directly support our mission to support research and advocate for Hunter Syndrome individuals and families.

L MPS, Inc. 1st Annual Zach's Run: May 01, 2011. The event will be held on Sunday, May 1st, rain or shine, beginning at 9:00 am at The Clinton Avenue Little League field, Clinton Avenue in Fredonia, NY. The event will consist of a 5K (3.1 mile) sidewalk run and 1-mile fun walk open to all ages. The 5K race will feature several age group categories including men's and women's categories of 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 . Children under 13 are free.
