Making Stuff, Making a Life: July 2011
http://makingstuffmakingalife.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Making Stuff, Making a Life. Alice Waters: The Art of Simple Food PLUS Quilting, Weaving, Beadwork, Art Dolls and More. Saturday, July 30, 2011. Candied Citrus Peel - pg. 382. Good lord, what a week. Couple of weeks. Month. Did I mention our pet spiders? Did I mention that we were essentially stood up for a dinner date a couple weeks ago? I mean, a dinner I was making? After buying $120 worth of groceries, developing a menu, and planning a day of cooking? Who does something like that? Dessert. Toppin...
Making Stuff, Making a Life: Another Day, Another Juice

Making Stuff, Making a Life. Alice Waters: The Art of Simple Food PLUS Quilting, Weaving, Beadwork, Art Dolls and More. Thursday, April 26, 2012. Another Day, Another Juice. It occurred to me today that I'm basically doing a no-flour, no-sugar diet - the one promoted by Dr. Gott of newspaper column fame. Veggies, fruit and a little protein. But no beans. Although I could. Because my approach is juice all day except for one ordinary, but healthy, meal. Preferable at mid-day. Sally G. Knight.

Making Stuff, Making a Life. Alice Waters: The Art of Simple Food PLUS Quilting, Weaving, Beadwork, Art Dolls and More. Sunday, April 24, 2011. Where Did The Week Go? It's true. The older I get, the faster time whizzes by. I'm in the habit of taking a shower nearly every morning before I get dressed. Then I feel awake and fit to tackle the day. Sometimes I feel like I'm just going from shower to shower to shower to shower. Does anything happen between showers? Well, better luck this week. Since I have a ...
Making Stuff, Making a Life: Wednesday Report

Making Stuff, Making a Life. Alice Waters: The Art of Simple Food PLUS Quilting, Weaving, Beadwork, Art Dolls and More. Wednesday, April 25, 2012. I'm so looking forward to shaking the end of this lousy cold. It's cloudy and rainy outside (never rains in April here.) and I'm tired. Seriously tired. Ears hurt. Throat hurts a little. Yuck. As long as I was in the Templeton area, my real meal for the day was a seared ahi salad at Pier 46 for lunch. Totally within my food plan and such a great treat.
Making Stuff, Making a Life: February 2011

Making Stuff, Making a Life. Alice Waters: The Art of Simple Food PLUS Quilting, Weaving, Beadwork, Art Dolls and More. Monday, February 28, 2011. I've noticed lately than Mondays seem to be lost days for me. I just don't seem to get anything accomplished on Mondays. This is NOT a good way to start a week, since it's all downhill from there as often as not. Soooooo, I made an extra effort today to have a plan and to stick to it. It worked. 5 Finished a loaf of no-knead rye bread. Oh yum! 6 Went to the Pa...

Making Stuff
Monday, August 19, 2013. Second Annual Baltimore Deviled Egg Pageant. My first foray into deviled eggs, I would say, was a success. My lovely, brilliant friend Martine. Held the inaugural Baltimore Deviled Egg Pageant last year. The deviled egg pageant is a friendly (read: fierce) competition which I suspect was started partially as an excuse for Martine to show everyone how brilliant she is in the kitchen and partially for Martine to eat all the deviled eggs she can bear. Saturday was spent boiling and ...

Making Stuff is Fun.....
Making Stuff is Fun. Sunday, November 2, 2014. This year for my birthday I decided I wanted an interactive event so I had a Chopped. Themed birthday party. Have you ever watched Chopped on the Food Network? It's pretty easy to get addicted. We modified the format based on the fact that I only have one kitchen at my house and am not a professional chef. We had 2 teams of three and both made a main dish. We each had separate secret ingredients and took turns. Team 1 aka Team Gingersnaps. Final Dish - Spina...

Welcome to Leila's website. Here you can find information about my writing and other interests. Have a click around. Long time no update. . . Life has continued, as it does, despite the lack of updates to this website. There hasn't been a great deal to report: I'm occasionally writing, slowly finishing off a novel, having my scripts read at scratch nights arranged by the Eden Court Playwriting group. I'll be doing Camp Nanowrimo. It was another busy November – although this year's Play Pieces Shorts.

The truth is out there somewhere, we only have to recognize it when it stares us in the face. Mdash; Pleiocratus of Delos, Greek philosopher ca. 700BC.
