Mary Made It: Grandma Gifts: Lap Quilt and Pillow
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2015/01/grandma-gifts-lap-quilt-and-pillow.html
Thursday, January 29, 2015. Grandma Gifts: Lap Quilt and Pillow. I made a throw pillow for my mom out of white minky. I embroidered "Grandma" in the center and then embroidered all of her grandkids and great grandkids names on it. Not all 13 names are my kids, some are my neices and nephews, but they are all her grandchildren. I had a lot of help embroidering the grandkids names. My six year old chose all the colors, fonts and typed the names into the embroidery machine. She loved helping! It says "Great...

Mary Made It: New Family Christmas Stockings
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2014/12/new-family-christmas-stockings.html
Sunday, December 21, 2014. New Family Christmas Stockings. I'm making stockings like mad. They are fun and easy, so why not! We are having a low-key easy Christmas this year, and that includes decorating. I decided not to get the tote boxes out of the garage and unpack, decorate, undecorate, and repack. The boxes are staying put. But, that's where our nice matching stockings are stored. I made new stockings! The kids love them! Let's hope Santa fills them up to the top! Mary Made It: Teacher Appreciation Tote Bag
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2015/05/teacher-appreciation-tote-bag.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. Teacher Appreciation Tote Bag. We love our teacher! My girls have the same teacher because she teaches grades 1-3. I figured out that she'll be our teacher for 5 years! Because she got our older daughter in 1st grade, both this year and has 2 more years with our youngest. Very cool! I made it with Cat in the Hat fabric and polka dot fabric for the lining. I added a pocket on it and I embroidered her name above the pocket. May 17, 2015 at 8:48 PM. I could use it on the Sr bus for our...

Mary Made It: Snappy Boy Shirts
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2015/05/snappy-boy-shirts.html
Sunday, May 3, 2015. Since I have 4 grandsons, I am sewing more for boys now. And I found a winner of a pattern! It is super easy. Often times, easy patterns look very "homemade" because they just don't hang right or fit or fall together the way clothing should. But this one look good. I haven't tried the men's size, but maybe I will since the boys' size came out great. You get both adult and toddler sizes in the same pattern envelope. The shirt fit him great but was too short. He loves his new shirts!

Mary Made It: July 2014
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 26, 2014. I have an Idea! A couple of years ago, my mom came to visit me and she brought with her two lovely old dresses from her friend Gladys. Gladys is in her 90s now and she made these dresses for her daughter's prom. I'm going to guess that the dresses are aproximately 50 years old. I put the dresses in the back of the closet and waited for inspiration to strike, and then I sort of forgot about them. I'm a visual person, if I can't see it I tend to forget. And then it hit me! I am a s...

Mary Made It: January 2014

Friday, January 31, 2014. Fantastic Mr. Fox Scarf. I found this awesome fox scarf online when I was browsing around for quick and easy projects. I've been enjoying simple sewing projects and I immediately fell in love with this fox scarf! And the blogger who made it offered up a free pattern too. Awesome! I found it at Prudent Baby. When I think of this fox scarf, I hear George Clooney's voice. Thusly, I have named this scarf "Fantastic Mr. Fox Scarf". There ya go, George. I didn't have much in the way o...

Mary Made It: February 2014
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 20, 2014. When it comes to quilting, I am just winging it. This was my first quilt. It took me a year to make it. Honestly, I don't remember what the back is. It is probably the same blue as the borders on the front. I think I bought a set of sheets to use as the back and borders, but I can't recall. I made this quilt 15 years ago and my focus was the shirts on the front, not the insignificance of the back. Nobody sees that part anyway. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I Want To Make. Size ...

Mary Made It: November 2013
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 30, 2013. Toy Potholders and Ovenmitts. My grandson loves to play "chef". He cooks for his mommy and daddy every day, and part of his play is to wear mommy's oven mitts and use her pot holders. Santa is bringing him a play kitchen set and some toy foods and dishes. Grandma is making him some toy potholders! After quilting the pieces, only one more step! Adding the bias tape to the edges. And, here we have my weakness. I really need to get better at doing this! I'm not using the machine...

Mary Made It: December 2013
http://marymadeitsewing.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 29, 2013. I made a bunch of potholders! These are simple and fun. I found some lovely fabric prints cut squares in 9" x 9". I sandwiched padding between the fabric. I used a layer of low pile quilt batting and a layer of Insul-Bright. I made potholders as gifts for some friends and for my oldest daughter. I've received nice comments and thank-yous from all. And my daughter would be honest enough to tell me if she didn't like it! We have been using the new potholders and they are great!
