Sunday, July 29, 2012. Skiing. In July! Went skiing this weekend on JULY 28th. Take that, all you lame North-Hemispherians! Http:/ www.perisher.com.au/. I know what all my Colorado and skiing friends are wondering. no it's not as good. It wasn't bad though, especially the second half of the day when we moved to the "tough" mountain where there was some actual powder and some nice ungroomed blue runs. It was really quite fun! Friday, June 27, 2014. I have a new apartment, it's in the Nishi building (Kami style):. Http:/ newacton.com.au/live/nishi. It's pretty cool, the building has a movie theater, a bar/lounge type thing and is walking distance from most of the stuff I go to downtown. It's a bit further to work, but still only like a 10 minute drive at the most. I have to buy furniture and appliances now but if I stay for 3 more years it will be worth it, as the furnished places are a lot more expensive. Lt Col. Hoke.

Things I notice after spending more than a year outside of the US:. 1) Wait staff is really friendly and the service is amazingly good. 2) This is because they are working for tips, and tipping sucks! 3) That's ok, because everything is really, really cheap, especially food. Beer, chips, sandwiches, everything is less than half as much as it is in Australia. 5) Pennies are really stupid. 8) Sports and news programs have no idea that a world outside the US exists.

Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Canberra is a planned city, designed by an American, Burley Griffin. The entire city is situated around a man made lake. It's winter here, and Canberra is the coldest major city in Australia, but Aussies are big wimps when it comes to winter - it feels much more like fall to me. After all. there's no snow and it still gets into the 50s and 60s almost every day. I went for a 12 kilometer run. July 12, 2012 at 7:32 AM. What a great place to live!
