Savoring each run because it may be my last. Friday, July 06, 2007. My 10 mile time was about 78 minutes, which including the 3 minutes off the course meant I had held the 7:30 pace but by then the race was over for me. I downshifted and just decided to jog it in from that point. My final time was a little under 3:44. My shin is extremely sore (hopefully not a stress fracture) afterwards but of course nothing else really got much of a workout. Hopefully I can patch things up by SOB on the 14th. Hey Hippo...

Savoring each run because it may be my last. Monday, June 04, 2007. Newport Marathon: Back in Business. In the next few miles I steadily picked people off in little clumps, as my respiration climbed steadily towards threshold. As mile 20 neared I realized that I really had few warning signs of impending trouble, other than a few lower-GI twinges. The only person who passed me was a young bodybuilder-looking woman who just flew by and then settled in ahead of me about 100 yards ahead. Links to this post.

Monday, November 30, 2009. Ghost of Seattle Race Report. The short: Opted for the half-marathon and was slow as hell, clocking in at 3:10:51. As I said before, it's the Thanksgiving weekend and I was busy as hell. Even though I had a 4-day weekend away from work, home and family took over like mad and I got just as little sleep as I would have during the work week. Rest is important and I gave it the finger. Once I got to mile 16, I decided to bail simply because the fun run wasn't fun anymore and I didn't need to cause a monsterous chaffing incident with myself. I still have scarring on my chest that looks like that damn Suunto ANT belt. So from now until I completely heal up or if I get the newer Comfort Belt, no more HR Training for me. Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Blowing the dust off. It's been some time since I've updated this. But life is always moving and always going forward, even if this blog isn't (which is cool.). Training and races - I decided to scrub the rest of the races in the near future. So no Hundred in the Hood for me, my first 100 mile dreams will have to be on hold until 2010. However, I am at the beginning of a new training plan that I designed, based mostly on Rob Shaul's Hybrid Program and design at Mountain Athlete.

Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Still toiling away. Still trying to find my groove. Strength: Until I got really sick about a week ago, doing pretty well. Current strength cycle 1RM numbers based on my lifts in the Wendler 5/3/1 program are:. Back Squat: 310 lbs. Bench Press: 215 lbs. Military Press: 155 lbs. However, based on previous workouts, my calculated 1RM are around here:. Back Squat: 330 lbs. Bench Press: 230 lbs. Military Press: 160 lbs. Geez youre pretty much stronger than me now.
