Mark James Pearson's adventures in Birdland (mainly Filey Bird Observatory). Nature writing and projects. The Birds of SNR. Friday, May 29, 2015. Roe across the Dams. As the curtain is about to fall on an especially quiet spring for migration, there is at least plenty of other fauna and flora to enjoy at this time of year locally, and Roe Deer are particularly visible at present - not least at the Dams, where they seem to be lurking around every corner. Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Monday, May 25, 2015.

Im also a writer, ecologist, and musician / songwriter. The now happ...

Mark James Pearson's adventures in Birdland (mainly Filey Bird Observatory). Nature writing and projects. The Birds of SNR. Sunday, July 12, 2015. Well, blue and green, but still. Headed up onto the North cliff to do my Kittiwake plot this morning, and dropped in at the Tip on the way back to check for waders and dragons; while there wasn't many of either, two summer-plumaged Dunlin were fantastically tame (to follow), and despite the strong wind, this accomodating Emperor. Mark James Pearson's adventures in Birdland (mainly Filey Bird Observatory). Nature writing and projects. The Birds of SNR. Monday, December 29, 2014. Cream-coloured Coursers - Fuerteventura #9. From a hit list of about ten specialities which we wanted to get up close and personal with on the island, Cream-coloured Coursers. northern rustic: September 2014

Mark James Pearson's adventures in Birdland (mainly Filey Bird Observatory). Nature writing and projects. The Birds of SNR. Sunday, September 28, 2014. East Wind in the Willows. This bird (also pictured above) was flushed almost from underfoot in the 'bomb crater' (a small, sheltered incline by the clifftop) and sat up briefly, allowing a few quick shots. Through the viewfinder of the camera, its pallid, washed-out overall colouration invited split second fantasies of perhaps an Iduna. This bird was feed...
