Accepted in the Beloved . . . Archive for June, 2011. A funeral and a wedding. Ecclesiastes 3: 1 – 4 (ESV). For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:. A time to be born, and a time to die;. A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;. A time to kill, and a time to heal;. A time to break down, and a time to build up;. A time to weep, and a time to laugh;. A time to mourn, and a time to dance. So, thus ends another week. And a new one begins. And tonig...

Accepted in the Beloved . . . I want to be an “other”. July 21, 2011. I was reading in 1 Chronicles this morning, and this passage really caught my eye:. I don’t know why Mattithiah was mentioned by name. But, leaving him out of the passage, notice how everyone else is listed: “some of them,” “others of them,” “others,” “some of their kinsmen.”. Sorry, it’s the best word I could think of to describe my attitude about that comment.). We are here to bring honor and glory to God. Not to ourselves. Let Us Go...

Accepted in the Beloved . . . Archive for May, 2011. Recently, I was grumbling over the lack of thankfulness that I perceived in someone’s life toward me. I had, after all, done something for them, and I expected more feedback. More “you are sooooo wonderful for doing this! 8221; “I don’t know what I would have done without you! 8221; “You’re the best! God’s Spirit quietly nudged me. Romans 7: 15-25 (ESV). Who will deliver me from. This body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! Doug ...

Answering Friends #1 - BRIANNORRIS
http://brianjnorris.com/answering-friends-1
One of my friends asked:. How do you truly love and trust again when you feel like everyone you have ever loved has hurt you? This question is so real and raw that I felt compelled to begin with it. When God was beginning our faith-family, he gave me some statements that later formed our vision and values. One of those statements was everything begins and ends with the gospel. This question beautifully illustrates how powerfully true that God-given precept is. Jesus loved his disciples (his friends).

POWERFUL - BRIANNORRIS
http://brianjnorris.com/powerful
Do we really know what the word power means? Sometimes, I wonder if we are so conditioned by shows of weakness that we’ve begun to call moderate strength or even mediocrity, power. It seems that those exercising true Spirit-enabled power are often culturally interpreted as arrogant or brash. Could it be that a weak church culture is feeding that misconception? Could it be that we are teaching the world that Christian = weak? Jesus is also powerful and those who follow Him will demonstrate His power!

HIStory: Loving our neighbors & bearing God's image
http://brianjnorris.com/love-our-neighbors
Christian perspective isn’t intended. To prop up your existing narrative. But for entering another’s story. It’s imperative that we love our neighbors. It’s the incarnation that demonstrates. My life in your shoes. It’s natural to love myself. But to knowto understand to love you. Does Imago Dei not dictate? Are we not all human? Are we not HIStory? Good stuff, Pastor Brian! Accepted in the Beloved . . . For Doug and Melanie. May 6, 2011. Thus began a friendship that included lots of fun, lots of travel, and lots of laughs. Who could forget the trip to Norfolk, VA to play in the National Industrial League Softball Tournament? Or the trip to Jacksonville, FL, to watch the Clemson Tigers play the Pittsburgh Panthers in the Gator Bowl? Some of the guys from the old softball team were able to get together for a group picture . . . carrying a few more pounds (for some...You are c...
