http://markreckless.blogspot.com/2011/03/question-to-prime-minister.html

Monday, 21 March 2011. A Question To The Prime Minister. Today is the Parliamentary debate on Libya. MPs' response to Friday's statement by the Prime Minister suggests that there will be strong support for the military action. Our Armed Forces will know that they have the backing of the whole country. On Friday I asked the Prime Minister about the decision to decommission our current aircraft carrier capability, and whether this should now be reconsidered:. At RAF high command in High Wycombe, Buckingham...

http://markreckless.blogspot.com/2011/04/mark-reckless-tackling-crime-through.html

Monday, 4 April 2011. Mark Reckless: Tackling Crime through Community Activism. The Government has a clear plan to cut crime through reforming the police and the criminal justice system. They have already abolished all the complex targets that Labour imposed from Whitehall and set the police just one goal: to cut crime. 8226; Introducing, from next May, directly-elected Police and Crime Commissioners to restore the link between the police and their communities. Woodman's World: Weekly Round-up - 23.01.11

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/01/weekly-round-up-230111.html

Sunday, 23 January 2011. Weekly Round-up - 23.01.11. This week will certainly be remembered for the two dramatic resignations that came on Thursday and Friday. Alan Johnson's decision to resign. We were also treated, early on Friday morning, to the resignation. The rest of the week was dominated by unemployment figures. That made particularly depressing reading for young people, and the official launch of Andrew Lansley's NHS reforms. Posted by Peter Woodman. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Decision ...

Woodman's World: Iran calls for 'restraint'

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/08/iran-calls-for-restraint.html

Thursday, 11 August 2011. Iran calls for 'restraint'. By far the best thing to come from the recent unrest in London has been the following quote from the Iranian Government:. Iran called for London Police to exercise self-restraint in dealing with protesters in Tottenham, north of London. He stressed return of peace and calm to London through talks and examining demands of the demonstrators. Posted by Peter Woodman. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Woodman's World Home Page. Woodman's World: PMQs Review - 19th January 2011

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/01/pmqs-review-19th-january-2011_19.html

Wednesday, 19 January 2011. PMQs Review - 19th January 2011. Bit of an odd session today, with a six-question break in the middle of Ed Miliband's questions to the PM. Even odder, however, was the huge cheer that Miliband got when he stood up to speak: for a split-second I think he thought something else was going on in the Chamber. Still, it's definitely good news for the Labour leader that his party is starting to support him. Posted by Peter Woodman. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). YouGov polls do...

Woodman's World: Weekly Round-up - 30.01.11

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/01/weekly-round-up-300111.html

Sunday, 30 January 2011. Weekly Round-up - 30.01.11. This week was dominated by figures. As Cameron put in one of his best, and most statesmanlike performances. The other big news this week was the belated publication of the Government's review. Elsewhere, Lord Lawson. Helpfully stuck it to David Cameron by kicking up a fuss about the undesirability of coalition government. We also saw the MoD scrambling. Posted by Peter Woodman. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tuesday, 25 January 2011. PMQs Preview - 26th January 2011. This is not going to be a long post. In fact I wrote that sentence just to beef it up a bit. Because PMQs tomorrow is only going to be about one thing: today's shock 0.5% GDP contraction. Balls has already launched a pretty effective broadside. Posted by Peter Woodman. Woodman's World: Oldham East and Saddleworth tells us nothing new

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/01/oldham-east-and-saddleworth-tells-us.html

Sunday, 16 January 2011. Oldham East and Saddleworth tells us nothing new. As exciting as by-elections are, this one. It’s also important to note that despite Labour’s claims to the contrary, this wasn’t necessarily a vote against the coalition’s economic agenda: if you add the Conservative and Lib Dem vote share it comes to 44.7%, which is more than Labour’s 42.1%. The Conservative high command will be satisfied. They decided. Posted by Peter Woodman. Oldham East and Saddleworth. 2010 PMQs in Review.

Woodman's World: Weekly Round-up - 16-01-11

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/01/weekly-round-up-16-01-11.html

Sunday, 16 January 2011. Weekly Round-up - 16-01-11. Westminster politics got underway again this week and provided us with plenty of action to kick-off 2011. The week’s most amusing story was the news that Tory MP Mark Pritchard, who is Deputy Chairman of the 1922 Committee, got into an altercation. The big news of the week was, of course, the result. The story that dominated the first half of the week was bankers’ bonuses. This came to its head on Wednesday with a very competitive. That showed Labour w...

Woodman's World: Spin School 101

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/01/spin-school-101.html

Tuesday, 18 January 2011. Daft That's the word that comes to mind when you look at the letter. Tom Baldwin, Ed Miliband's new spinner, sent to pretty much everyone in the media. First of all, he's become the story, which is exactly the opposite of what he should be doing. And secondly, he's created a situation whereby if the press do start calling the coalition the 'Conservative-led Government' then they'll look like they're taking orders from Ed Miliband's Comms guy! When you are talking about this gove...

Woodman's World: PMQs Review - 26th January 2011

http://peterwoodman.blogspot.com/2011/01/pmqs-review-26th-january-2011.html

Wednesday, 26 January 2011. PMQs Review - 26th January 2011. That the economic figures released yesterday would dominate PMQs was borne out as Ed Miliband made the UK's 0.5% contraction the focus for has six questions. The problem was that he faced the most agile David Cameron I've seen at the dispatch box in weeks and that he was relentlessly barracked by the Government benches. At the Labour leader. The next exchange began with Miliband's best line of the day, when he shot back at Cameron that the PM d...

Thoughts on politics and life from a liberal perspective. Tuesday, 30 January 2018. The leaked Brexit report won't have any political effect. So an internal government report has been leaked. That says whichever Brexit option the UK goes for there will be a detrimental effect on GDP. Depending on which form of Brexit we end up going for the range is from 2% of foregone GDP in 15 years up to as much as 8% of GDP in 15 years. Scary stuff. Well what I am going to do here is a bit rough and ready but in 2016...
