Phil The Bard: November 2014
http://philthebard.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 28 November 2014. Phil at Castello Runcolo. Kat's Italian hosts have been far from infernal. In fact, they've been the opposite. She's had a splendid time. She's been learning the language, visiting Milan, Verona and Venice, walking in the Dolomites. To think, we couldn't even get her to come on weekend hikes in Derbyshire . For the whopping big mausoleum to Cesare Battisti (local patriot) and the views. We took the train to Bolzano. We flew back the next day, following some yomping around Verona...

Friday, 7 December 2012. Tum te Tum Tum Tum te te Tum te Tum Tum. 8216;Let us make one thing clear: Geoffrey Hill is the greatest living poet in the English language.’. Nicholas Lezard in a review. Michael Schmidt, Director of Carcanet Press made the same claim as he introduced Hill at the John Rylands Library. Geoffrey Hill lectured at Leeds in my undergraduate days in the 1980s. We were all in awe of him. I only heard him once as my module choices took me in a different direction. I only re...Hill must...

Phil The Bard: Epiphany
http://philthebard.blogspot.com/2011/01/epiphany.html
Sunday, 2 January 2011. Those who worshipped the stars were taught by a star . In my more liturgy-lite, independent evangelical/charismatic days, Epiphany was always one of those feasts we overlooked. Sure, we had Christmas and Easter, but we never really bothered with Lent, Advent or any of the other traditional fasts and feasts of the Church year. Thy Nativity, O Christ our God, has shone to the world the light of wisdom! 6 January 2011 at 14:48. Check out the Romeiko Ensemble or the Valaam Brethren Ch...

Phil The Bard: Wheels & Withies
http://philthebard.blogspot.com/2014/01/wheels-withies.html
Sunday, 19 January 2014. The Redstone Centre : Living willow structures. This ought to be good cycling country. It’s undulating enough to give you a few slopes to ride down and neither so flat that you can’t make headway against the wind nor so hilly that you have to stand on your pedals. Someone once told me that cycling across the Lincolnshire Fens was more difficult than it sounds. There were no slopes to give impetus. It's gripped, sorted . Let's .'. Now I’ve got the bike back on the road IR...
