Tuesday, January 24, 2012. This year hasn't gotten off to a great start. Last week was just plain awful. It started with a phone call on a Friday night at 11:30pm from my father-in-law. We immediately knew it was bad news. Steven's brother passed away unexpectedly. That was just plain shocking and horrifying. Then things got stressful, as people wanted different things for the funeral, and my husband and his siblings had to help mediate. Sometimes life really does give us lemons. Monday, January 9, 2012.

A few friends were supportive, but most people seemed appalled. My youth group acted thoroughly grossed out. Thursday, April 26, 2012. Fixing Up the House. For example, while prepping Alex's room for painting, Steven discovered that there was painted-over wallpaper in there. He started pulling it off and found messed up drywall. It's turned into a full-blown project that has him frustrated. I rubbed that in, and I'm hoping the cabinets will drink that up. When my Howard's Restore-a-Finish comes out of storage, I'll go over everything to make it look prettier. Isn't that diamond checkerboard floor fabulous?

Jason and I went to the DC area with Mom and Dad so that Jason and Daddy could go to the US Open. Mom and I went to see Wicked at the Kennedy Center while they were at the tournament.
