Honesty and Hills: December 2014
http://honestyandhills.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 29, 2014. Nearly two months have passed since I finished off my 2014 triathlon season by competing in Ironman Florida on November 1st. I rode a mental high for several days after returning to Fort Collins. Lots of people had followed the race. The support and congratulations from everyone was awesome. The same date as IM Florida, the team had a huge 5k fundraiser. I was disappointed to miss it but they appeared to have a fun time. Thanksgiving #1 (with Family). My sister, Alison, thuroug...

Honesty and Hills: July 2014

Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Lifetime Tri Minneapolis 2014. This past weekend I was home in Minnesota to see family and race Lifetime Tri Minneapolis. Growing up, I ran and biked a large portion of the course so I was excited to race in my stomping grounds. I arrived Thursday for the Saturday race and immediately did what our family is good at - work out and eat. If you're ever in the Twin Cities, check out Big Marina Grill and Deli. As a bonus they had watermelon for dessert. X3 for how much we ate! Right fr...

The Word on Wellness: 5/26/13 - 6/2/13

Thursday, May 30, 2013. Maybe you should skip that stretch. But I've been told I should stretch before I work out to avoid injury and warm up. New research from the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research says that an active and dynamic warm up is preferred to a passive stretch before activity. Read the abstract here. So what is an active dynamic warm up? Passive stretching can lead to instability in your joints increasing your chance for injury. Open up your joints. Actively stretch muscle tissue.

Honesty and Hills: September 2014
http://honestyandhills.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 14, 2014. Mont Tremblant - 70.3 World Championship. It's hard to believe that September is here already! This season has been a blast so far. I've trained a lot, raced a fair amount and in the process learned more about myself. I carried the momentum from Age Group Nationals. Into a solid three week training block where I focused on longer running sessions. And I were targeting the race, trying to set things up for a good performance. Food channel in French? After arriving in Montreal, ...

Honesty and Hills: May 2015

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Clemson 2015 - Collegiate Club Nationals. A few weeks ago, I traveled with the CSU Tri team to Clemson, South Carolina for the Collegiate Club National Championships. It's taken me a long to finalize this blog because since returning to school, I've been working hard to prepare for finals, finish assignments and other things in life. Thursday was spent doing a course preview, loosening up, discussing strategy with Coach Mace, getting checked in and drinking smoothies. After the r...

Honesty and Hills: Boulder 70.3 and MP training camp
http://honestyandhills.blogspot.com/2015/06/boulder-703-and-another-training-camp.html
Monday, June 22, 2015. Boulder 70.3 and MP training camp. The past week has been a blast. After a busy week at work, I got all my race gear ready for Boulder 70.3. Geneva thought the old lace served as a good bow / headband. After an early wake-up and quick breakfast, I was soon at the Boulder Reservoir. I set up transition and headed out for a jog with some music to relax. As I was putting on my wetsuit, I wished CSU alum Bailey Hinz. A few minutes before our wave was to go, I found Mac. At every aid st...

Honesty and Hills: March 2015

Monday, March 23, 2015. 2015 Vegas training camp and MCTC Championship. The past three years I've had some amazing spring breaks. First I spend four days in Vegas doing a training camp with the CSU Triathlon Team. Then we journey to Lake Havasu for the Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship. After a hard brick on Saturday, we loaded up our trailer (now outfitted for 45 bikes) and prepared for our week-long training and racing adventures. Bikes safely loaded inside the trailer. Going into the race, I...

Honesty and Hills: January 2015
http://honestyandhills.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 19, 2015. Training Camp and Turning 23. With the spring 2015 semester starting tomorrow, I would look back on the past couple weeks of winter break and recap, mostly in pictures, some of the fun things that have happened. I returned to Fort Collins in time to celebrate new years. A group of us planned out a big swim. I ended up getting in 100 x 100s. We did the first 70 or so on 1:30 then incorporated some drills and pull to spice it up. One of the workouts from trainerroad. January 7th, ...
