This project addresses the key challenge: How can we enhance the ability of teachers to provide quality mathematics education? The primary audience is preK-8 mathematics teacher educators, as well as pre-service and early career preK-8 teachers. The iterative refinement of instructional modules for preK-8 mathematics methods courses that explicitly develop teacher competencies related to mathematics, children’s mathematical thinking and community/cultural funds of knowledge,.
MathConnect
How might we engage with one another to improve mathematics teaching and learning? The Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary and JUMP Math will co-host a one-day conference in Calgary on February 2, 2013. To address this question, focusing in particular on the place of the new interdisciplinarity in mathematics education. This conference will be of particular interest to teachers, pre-service teachers, parents, school administrators, consultants, policy-makers, educators and researchers.
