Take It To The Limit. A Math Teacher's Journal. Laquo; #mtbosChallenge – Sunday Summary. MTBoS Challenge: Classroom Photo. Automaticity in Music and Math. August 31, 2014. From a recent post. I completely agree (although I come at it from a flute standpoint rather than a piano). There aren’t many things in life more boring than practicing scales and arpeggios, unless it’s sitting beside a tuner and practicing getting every note in tune. The payoff is when you see something like this:. All of which gets m...

The rantings of a teacher who retired from the classroom but not from education. Monday, August 10, 2015. Packemin Packs Them In. I know hardly anyone reads this blog anymore and I hardly ever write anything, let alone anything interesting yet all I have to do is mention PACKEMIN in the title, body or tag and I get a ton of hits. Enjoy the Hagar cartoon. Tell your students another reason they need math is so they can understand the funny pages. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I Miss My Dad. 65279; 13...

Pissed Off: Fun At Work
http://pissedoffteeacher.blogspot.com/2015/07/fun-at-work.html
The rantings of a teacher who retired from the classroom but not from education. Sunday, July 19, 2015. I managed to get to the school a few minutes early and stopped by the office to pick up a book and sign to get paid. I thought the look of gratitude on the secretary's face was enough to make my day. That, was not even a fraction of what happened next. I will get a nice check for the work I did but more importantly, I had fun. How many people can say work is fun? Getting paid for having fun. Pissed Off: Cheating Scandal
http://pissedoffteeacher.blogspot.com/2015/06/cheating-scandal.html
The rantings of a teacher who retired from the classroom but not from education. Saturday, June 27, 2015. I feel awful for the students at John Dewey. Kudos to the teachers at John Dewey who came forward. If Farina and DeBlasio really care about education they need to establish some way of looking into this at all schools and see how kids who never passed are suddenly passing and graduating. They need to follow these students into the community college and see how little they actually know. I Miss My Dad.

The rantings of a teacher who retired from the classroom but not from education. Thursday, July 02, 2015. Gleeful Administrators Ruining Schools. The incompetent and inexperienced administrators of today are ruining teachers careers and reputations but more importantly they are ruining schools and no one cares. More importantly, they are leaving today's youths in the hands of teachers not properly prepared to help them grow to capacity. 5:06 PM, July 02, 2015. 6:50 PM, July 02, 2015. I Miss My Dad. Every...

NYC Educator: The Faculty Conference
http://nyceducator.com/2015/08/the-faculty-conference.html
Thursday, August 06, 2015. As principal, I am horrified by lateness. There is no excuse for lateness! On another note, too many of our students are failing. We need to reverse this trend. Of course we need to do whatever possible to help our students. On that front, I'm opening up the floor to suggestions. Mr. V? Thank you Mr. V. I see a hand over there. What's your suggestion, Ms. R? Great suggestion Ms. R. Mr. C, what's your opinion? Posted by NYC Educator. Labels: tales told out of school. You know, w...
