A blog that is authored by Matt but is yours and the tea's as much as it is his. Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Aged Korean Tea: A Reroasted Four Years Aged Kim Jong Yeol Balhyocha. The concept of aging Korean tea is a new one, even 8 years ago, you would be hard pressed to find a Korean tea shop owner or drinker that had even tasted aged Korean tea. Samples- a sample from Naka. It looks like this nice cake has since sold out- too bad its a good one. The dry leaves smell of light floral, fragrant fruity notes sneaks into the nose. The third starts with a creamy-sweet barely bitter taste. The strong and deep fruity taste quickly arrives and lingers. There is a long dense fru...In th...

Kindly gifted a 2013 and a 2011 sample of O Juk Hun's balhyocha from a personal stash from his travels in Korea last year. Since “O Juk Hun" is not a common name in Korean tea circles so one pressed Pedro on a background story. He said that O Juk Hun is a shaman from the Hadong growing region. The third starts water...

How I Taste Tea. Asymp; Leave a comment. As the show must go on before everything cools off, I pour the still steaming water into the gaiwan and put on the lid for a little bit. While the tea was brewing, I realized I needed to take out the pitcher and clean it off. Thankfully, I was quick and the leaves did not over steep. The bright amber liquor is darker than what comes out in the photos…. Asymp; 1 Comment. My orders from Ippodo and Yuuki-Cha arrived yesterday. I placed both orders last Saturday, ...

Asymp; Leave a comment. How long has it been since I found some time to calm my mind with a pot of tea? I have been feeling rather lost and stressed while adjusting to adult life – work and marriage. Trying to brush off these unhappy thoughts, I dusted off my neglected tea set and dug into a sample of green tea crafted by Yi Ho Yeong. Generously provided by Arthur at Morning Crane Tea. Asymp; Leave a comment. At last, some time for tea! Isn’t she beautiful? It took me quite a bit of time tinkering with the camera to capture the crackling glaze. Turns out it’s all in the lighting and exposure level. This is a close up of the stand. It was a really lovely surprise to see an engraving of the Chinese character for mountain on the base. The character is also on the cups and pitcher, an unexpected detailing. This is the full set! Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
Yulan Tea | 茶叶记

Asymp; Leave a comment. At last, I am able to open the bag of yulan tea that I bought months ago and had otherwise been languishing in the tea box at our new house with all my books and unpacked assorted hobby items. Yulan is a Chinese magnolia, but I could not decipher that upon first inspection. The appearance and scent were strikingly unfamiliar to me. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Saturday, February 28, 2015. The high art of excess. We'd walked well beyond Restaurant Au Pied de Cochon by the time we realized we were lost. I was panicked. We could not show up late and lose our place at table. The fluffy snow gets honed down by the shovel blade to a few millimeters of hard packed ice. A louge for neighbors to break their asses upon. In Montreal, they just let it pile up. Fuck it, it's never going to stop snowing. What's the point? I think Bee, who was not as excited as I to spend an...

Sunday, March 30, 2014. On our way to downtown New Orleans in a freezing drizzle, we stumbled upon Peche, Donald Link's new seafood joint. It was too early for dinner, but we were cold. We sidled up to the bar, and admired the girthy timbers supporting the high ceiling. A gas oven blazed at the opposite end of the restaurant. We ordered a half dozen Gulf oysters, three from Alabama and three from the Louisiana coast, and backed them with cocktails. We're working with different ingredients in the north co...

Did you know that there is a real debate within western puerh circles about what is considered the most optimal home storage for puerh? I suppose there are endless ways you can store puerh but, in America at least, the pumidor (puerh humidor) seems to be the most popular these days. Have you ever wondered why?
