Our European Adventure: December 2013
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 30, 2013. In the footsteps of giants. Four hundred years ago, the Troubles were a fight over Protestant and Catholic religious differences. But over the last century, the conflict has been not about faith, but about politics: Will Northern Ireland stay part of the UK or become part of the Republic of Ireland? After saying a sad goodbye to our country cottage in Ardfinnan, including George (who we found out from the owner when we turned in the keys, real name was Louis), we set out for th...

Our European Adventure: February 2014
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Cousins Matt and Amber made the trip across the pond to see some of Matt's family and we were thrilled to get to spend a little time with them while we were all in the country. We even managed to get a picture of the four of us together. No idea how Matt and I got so lucky to hang out with these two beautiful women! Posted by Adam Powell. Thursday, February 13, 2014. Oh where is my puppy? This morning when I went to let Daisy out of her crate, I was greeted by this:. Anyway, w...

Our European Adventure: November 2013
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 26, 2013. I am not a jelly filled donut! We arrived at the Berlin central train station around 10:30 AM and noticed at once how much cleaner and better organized it is than its French or British counterparts. Paris and London stations often overcrowded, with trash scattered about, and in the case of Paris particularly sticky and smelly. Berlin's central station was absolutely nothing like that! Yep, I could eat that. And most definitely this, and I did! This was in a hotel! Well that...

Our European Adventure: Jeg har kjørt bort, og jeg kommer ikke tilbake!
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2014/03/eg-har-gatt-meg-bort.html
Saturday, March 8, 2014. Jeg har kjørt bort, og jeg kommer ikke tilbake! Well, we made it. To the top of the world. 69° 56’ N 23° 18’ E. Nicknamed the Town of the Northern Lights – though I have to imagine many towns within the Arctic Circle also boast this claim. We had two days to explore the area with the hopes that we could go up into the mountains in the evening to see the elusive (to our cruise ship apparently) Northern Lights. No, I don't know why there is a ladder on the roof. Subscribe to: Post ...

Our European Adventure: March 2014
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 16, 2014. The Long Boat Ride Back to London. I promise we’ll do our best to not break the boat! Posted by Adam Powell. Thursday, March 13, 2014. Tromso, Andalsnes and Bergen. After nearly an hour soaking in the warmth being generated from the furnaces and with the rain starting to come down in buckets we beat feet back to ship stopping just long enough to take a photo of the local Catholic Church. Our afternoon in Tromso was uneventful. We stayed on board drinking hot chocolate and perh...

Our European Adventure: April 2013
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 28, 2013. After much demand from both sets of parents (and probably our only followers of the blog), we are taking you on a house tour of our new digs. Julia - Adam, Amanda, video camera. I smell trouble. Enjoy the 5 minutes of cheesiness! A couple of things I feel I should point out. Adam and I should not be tour guides. Monday, April 8, 2013. The weekend we moved. So remember how I was going to be in Bristol until June? So when we decided we were moving at the end of March instead of in J...

Our European Adventure: October 2013
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 19, 2013. Traveling for us these days isn't all about international destinations and amazing cruising experiences. It's also about making sure we take advantage of the places that are only a short day trip away. One of those places now that we are in London is Cambridge. About three quarters of the way through our walk we happened across something I hadn't really seen much in the UK. A Gothic Catholic Church. Having finished viewing the Old Court and its impressive Moondial, the buildin...

Our European Adventure: May 2013
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 27, 2013. Ode to the pupsters. Most of you have probably seen most of these pictures. They have all been on Facebook over the last couple of weeks, so our friends get an update in all things puppy regularly. Except my Mother. My Mother who won’t be my friend on Facebook. Mom, this is for you. (It would be easier if you were my friend). This house has much larger windows than our last house. And the girls love it. L – O – V – E. Ginger even protects the laundry from the vicious sheet stealers.

Our European Adventure: Tromso, Andalsnes and Bergen
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2014/03/tromso-andalsnes-and-bergen.html
Thursday, March 13, 2014. Tromso, Andalsnes and Bergen. Our time in Alta unfortunately ended rather poorly as our last excursion, a guided tour to see the Northern Lights, was canceled due to in-climate weather. The weather was so bad in fact that it delayed our departure out of the port by a few hours. The captain did however make up some time during the night and we arrived in Tromso late in the morning. Our afternoon in Tromso was uneventful. We stayed on board drinking hot chocolate and perhaps a...

Our European Adventure: January 2014
http://thepowellsnextadventure.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 31, 2014. Off the road again.Like a band of gypsies we go down the train tracks. After 2 ½ years, 24,411 miles, 13 countries and billions of memories we said goodbye to our little red Fiesta. Owning a car in London is difficult. Even if you have a place to park, which luckily we do, it’s expensive to drive and given the chaos of the city of London itself you’d be crazy to try to drive through the city (which, by the way, we’ve done). So, we’re now pedestrians. Bus pass anyone? Okay, perha...
