3D Character Animation: April 2009
http://3dcharacterlisa.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 28 April 2009. Originally I had planned to use the Hair and Fur Modifier to apply onto Slurggy for facial hair and hairiness in general. However, it seems that this is a very complicated tool to use as I had to sit for hours combing it all in the right direction, and it was VERY slow in loading even each individual hair on my computer, so I decided against using it. Friday, 10 April 2009. Leapard skin and animation testing. I planned on reversing the typical caveman clothing colours to black wit...

3D Character Animation: Arm Problem!
http://3dcharacterlisa.blogspot.com/2009/05/arm-problem.html
Friday, 1 May 2009. I have been trying to bone and animate the arms but there seems to be a huge problem with the envelopes that can't seem to be fixed. As you can see from the image and video below, creating the bones and placing them in the arms is fine and it all moves correctly when animating. However, the envelopes stop working properly after saving and then opening the file up again. The Slug's body goes completely wrong and out of shape very badly! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

3D Character Animation: Clothing
http://3dcharacterlisa.blogspot.com/2009/03/clothing.html
Tuesday, 17 March 2009. The clothing for Slurggy has been added. This was done by extruding and insetting polygons on the body. Though it is simple, I think it has a good effect in portraying a typical caveman outfit. I will add material to it later using the multi-sub object layer and using UVW mapping modifier. The arms have also been redone so they appear more meaty and so that the arms don't look like they have been smoothed out like the previous post showed. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

3D Character Animation: May 2009
http://3dcharacterlisa.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Monday, 4 May 2009. I have now finally finished my animation, with a slight change to some things:. The arm issue; I have decided to leave the arms down when Slurggy moves/glides across the floor, as it looks much better and realistic, rather than him with his arms up looking like he is about to take off like an aeroplane! If I were to do this again however, I wouldn't use the PathDeform modifier to create the slugs body as this causes many problems, and could be the reason why the bones for the arms did...

3D Character Animation: Arms and monobrow
http://3dcharacterlisa.blogspot.com/2009/03/arms-and-monobrow.html
Friday, 13 March 2009. Below just shows some examples of what I came up with. The arms were made by extruding polygons out of the body. I think they could be improved on, especially as it looks really flat at the moment and needs some muscles added to it. I also felt that Slurggy doesn't need any fingers as the end of the arms can be the hands/fingers instead - I think this looks more effective in my opinion too. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 3D Character Animation: wk 7: Premier and dun !
http://pauls3d.blogspot.com/2009/03/wk-7-premier-and-dun.html
Thursday, 12 March 2009. Wk 7: Premier and dun! As it goes I have been collating my avi's as I get them in premier pro so there wasn't much left to alter! Under the advice from Chris I did not compress the avi's from max, I left them uncompressed so that Premier can do the compressing, unfortunately that left me with 7 gbs worth of avi's as you can see below. Because I had to split the files up for rendering some of them are in four rather large parts! The same technique can be used for adjusting the vol...

Friday, 13 March 2009. Wk 7: Another thing. Oh and yes before you say it the voice over does sound strangely like Mr Bean! This was not intentional but during recording it sounded the best out of all of the styles of dialogue I made. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wk 7: Another thing. Wk 7: Premier and dun! http://pauls3d.blogspot.com/2009/02/wk-4-bone-ywassawarriorwayayix-read.html
Friday, 20 February 2009. Read your Asterix and you'll know). Now onto boning and as if on cue the problems begin to arrive. Firstly I tried for a whole. Day with the IKHI solver bones under create/systems/bones. As you can see below It was quite successful and I added fins to help me animate at a later stage. Then I used an IK Solver to link them all together. After a while using skin it wasn't working as planned so I tried another approach. A modifier called Physique which works in a very similar w...

Thursday, 12 February 2009. Wk 4: On the 'ed son.
