Sunday, July 30, 2006. Guelaguetza, Jaripeo, Cerro etc. So here are a few photos from all the festivities that have been going on this past week. We are very lucky to be here during the week of the Guelaguetza. It s the biggest cultural celebration of the year. The big parties and such are in the city of Oaxaca but our town is awesome and does a lot of its own celebrations/smaller versions of the various events. Enjoy! Cerro de la Campana - Everybody hikes up to the archaeological ruins in the community,...

Maya in Oaxaca: Events from the past week, not in order

http://www.mayainoaxaca.blogspot.com/2006/08/events-from-past-week-not-in-order.html

Saturday, August 05, 2006. Events from the past week, not in order. So we just finished out last full week in community. I think all three of us are excited to go home to many things, but also sad to leave here many things here. Here we are with the kids from our technology class; we just had our last class yesterday. Did an amaranth planting demonstration. However, on Friday, there were thunderstorms and showers for like 3 hours - so much for our amaranth. Posted by Maya White @ 10:54 AM.

Oaxaca (Wa-Ha-Ka): August 2006

http://wahaka.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 23, 2006. I’ve been home since Saturday evening. I thought it would be appropriate to do a summary of my last week in Oaxaca. The volunteers left Oaxaca last Saturday for Mexico City. On Sunday morning, they left for Houston! It was sad to see them leave on Saturday. It felt I had just been pulling there bags out from the bottom of the bus. The time went by very fast. When we got to the highway, we stopped and bought two large (925 mL (40 oz? When we got back, even though I did not ask,...

He is such a good little bouncy ball. Posted by Cassie @ 7:19 PM. Tuesday, July 25, 2006. Lets go buy raisin bran. But just to say a little more. Lots of love,. Then it rain...

Friday, August 16, 2013. Saturday, August 10, 2013. The Circle is Complete. Just arrived back in Lima today, after my third 20 hour bus ride. This one was rough, winding through narrow roads of the Andes for the whole first half of the trip. But I made it, and have left behind cross-country bus trips for at least a few years. I'm curious what Dona Marina and the boys are up to; their uncle friended me today so I hope to maintain some contact! When we speak of development, what exactly are we speaking of?

Gonzalo also got to discover the clubbing scene, which i think he’s a big fan of, even tho latin americans have high expectations when it comes to nightlife and dancing. We went out with some american and senegalese friends, dancing until the usual 5 in the morning. How nice it is to be young. Maya in Spain

View my complete profile. Thursday, September 16, 2010. After being back in the United States for six weeks (and practically regaining my knowledge of the English language), I have decided to reflect on my estancia (stay) abroad. Was it worth it? Yes An irrevocable yes. It was worth every second. Why? My eyes were opened to a new kind of life. Every time someone in Spain would ask me, "Do you like Spain? And I would say the key phrase: "No me importa.". After that grand revelation, I'd like to note that ...
