Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011. Wednesday, July 13, 2011. July 1st to July 13th. Today I am really tired. We worked on writing all day and making plans about our trip to the west. We hope to meet Mary’s family when we go. So excited! Today was a good day. We also met Seith, our driver for our trip west. He helped us come up with a plan and decide on our budget and what we want to do when we get there. Things are falling into place right at the end how they always do. Somehow. Do mosquitoes transmit HIV?

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011: June 2011

http://meaganinuganda.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011. Thursday, June 23, 2011. We decided to walk home. Later on, we met our friend Pharouk at a local hang out nearby. We also got an email from the UNCST today saying that we could resubmit our research proposal from last summer. Apparently it’s been misplaced. For now, we have temporary approval to begin our data collection, but I’m not really sure what that means exactly. We’re not in Russia! 8221; His accent was really very different from Ugandans and I especially liked the way...

But it really was a wonderful day, in fact one of the best days i had in a very long time, and i am so grateful i had the chance meeting you after such a long time! Say hi for me to everyone, love you big time! October 10, 2011 at 5:03 AM. Week 1 in Uganda.

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011: July 2010

http://meaganinuganda.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Today we tried hard to find out any news about the bombings. Unfortunately, there was a problem with our internet so we had to rely on newspapers (most of which only showed graphic photographs of the deceased) and local news channels on the television. It was difficult to find any information, because people were still being treated at the hospital and officials were really still trying to figure out what happened and why. Nothing from the UNCST or Pre...

http://meaganinuganda.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011. Saturday, April 10, 2010. Preparing for our trip. I am preparing to leave for my research trip to Uganda! As my practicum project for my Master's degree, I am conducting summer research there! So far, my research partner Ginger and I have been very lucky to recieve funding from private donations we acquired from fundraising, and also from the International Study Abroad Office. We feel very fortunate, and hopefully we will not have to pay much out-of-pocket for this trip.

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011: 6/6 - 11/6

http://meaganinuganda.blogspot.com/2011/06/66-116.html

Meagan in Uganda 2010-2011. Sunday, June 12, 2011. I am definitely sick. It feels like a sinus infection and I have the worst headache ever. The only difference between this and a normal sinus infection that I’ve had is that I’m exhausted and slept almost all day. Ginger and Nicole were really sweet and brought me some Sudafed from the store. I sound like a frog. Yay for Z packs! 8221; which means “yes please! 8221; it was hilarious. Today we went to Kyngera and I had a great time there last year, so I w...

Nikki in Kampala, Uganda: June 1-9th 2011

http://nikkiinkampala.blogspot.com/2011/06/june-1-9th-2011.html

Nikki in Kampala, Uganda. Thursday, June 9, 2011. It’s been a crazy week or so and I finally feel as though I’m getting my bearings. They tasted like a smoky earthy bacon-y spice. When we had the grasshoppers they tasted alright, but were really crunchy and I didn’t appreciate them as much as Ginger, who was dipping them in ketchup like French fries saying they tasted like soft shell crab. 8221; All you can do is shake your head and smile. Ginger Goes to Uganda! Tracing my experiences while I'm in Uganda so that everyone can follow. Thursday, June 23, 2011. Doing some last minute things before we leave tomorrow. We won’t be back until Tuesday evening, which means that we’ll be out of touch till Wednesday or so. I’m really excited! Especially for Gulu. We are supposed to get there on Sunday, which I hope will give us time to see the city and maybe the surrounding areas before we meet with mentors and schools. In my mind I keep thinking, &#8...

Ginger Goes to Uganda! Tracing my experiences while I'm in Uganda so that everyone can follow. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Just getting ready for the week and the mentor meeting on Friday. Got our approval from the UNCST. It feels like a dream. Also we should have the pictures up soon, so be on the look out. Cheers! The meeting went well, and it seems like they might be interested in partnering with SAS in the future. We continued on our way to Gulu via Masindi eating mangoes like apples and stopping to ...

Nikki in Kampala, Uganda. Saturday, May 28, 2011. End of Amsterdam and Beginning of Uganda. I’m sorry for the delay in posting! Between keeping the blog, diary, logbook for contacts and budget, and field notes there is a lot of writing. I should manage to write more regularly though as we have settled into a rhythm in our apartment and have secured internet access. May 22nd, 2011. May 23rd, 2011. Ginger Goes to Uganda! Tracing my experiences while I'm in Uganda so that everyone can follow. Wednesday, July 13, 2011. I’ll try to write before I leave about the trip and be sure to check out the absurd number of pictures we will upload . We also had to pull US dollars for our trip because the national parks take dollars if you are not a Ugandan. It is odd to think about how much the US dollar impacts things here and how the citizens are holding their government responsible. Part of me thinks, wha...

Ginger Goes to Uganda! Tracing my experiences while I'm in Uganda so that everyone can follow. Saturday, July 31, 2010. Our last week…. We were pretty tired to day, so we spent most of the time at home and only went out for Thai food. Jude went with us, and he and Meagan had never had sticky rick with mango before. It was a pretty big hit between the two of them, especially Jude, who is a particularly picky eater. Monday, July 26, 2010. Thursday, July 22, 2010. Look forward to more posts on Sunday. World...

Ginger Goes to Uganda! Tracing my experiences while I'm in Uganda so that everyone can follow. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Happy Birtday to Me. Today is my birthday, and it has been very pleasant so far. I decided to buy a swim suit and go swimming at the fancy pants club where I had the incident with the vice president last year. I really enjoyed laying out by the pool and reading. I took a dip and swam a few laps, but the pool was cold! Meagan has gone out to do a few things with the foundation. Our trip...

20 Something

It came to my attention this week that J.D. Salinger recently died at the ripe old age of 91 or something like that. Naturally, this has caused all sorts of major upset in the literary world and whatnot. I mean, boo hoo and stuff, but really? I feel like if you chose to live your life as a recluse, you're kind of dead to the world anyway, right? Really freakin' original, buddy. And, just for giggles, here's the official news release from The Onion. What are my plans? Where am I going to grad school?
