Writing with words and light. Sermon: Faith for what? I have not written in some time, having "reported" on daily life with Tal and me via photographs on flickr rather than writing regular blog entries. With a growing urge to begin writing again and having worked hard on a sermon for yesterday, I'm signed back in at least for today. Making no promises . Sermon for 6 October 2013. Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Greenwood SC (@ Wesley Commons). Six weeks ago today I turned 60. Dear, how many 120-yea...

Meandering Motherhood
Wednesday, 19 November 2014. In Defence of Pink (AKA the blog post I never thought I'd write). By Jessica Valentini was recently published in the Guardian, I read it, thought it made some good points but wasn't brilliant and then largely forgot it. Later it cropped up in my time line on facebook posted by the PinkStinks. Campaign and triggered quite a lively discussion. Cooking toys, wellies, gardening equipment etc etc). Girls can't possibly use the same version that boys use, it has to be prettifie...

Cute & Crazy
January 15, 2014. The next couple of days are going to be pretty long. I am not going to get to much done around the house. Yesterday I did manage to start a new vinegar though, and I am pretty excited! I hope it does not take too long to brew. It is a vegetable vinegar. The idea behind it was vinegar to use in cooking. It is pretty much like a vegetable stock. I have onion, carrot, celery, cabbage and a few other odds and ends I found in my crisper. On a more interesting note:. January 13, 2014. 144 cir...

Meandering Mukluks
Check out what we're up to during our return to South America for another 5 weeks of sunshine. Sunday, 23 December 2012. Bus Rides and Iguanas. These little wonders are a short bread cookie filled with dulce de leche and sprinkled with icing sugar. These treasures coupled with gravol made the time fly by despite a somewhat smelly baby and a few horrendous movies that most likely never made it to North American theatres. Do it yourself coffee. Not something I purchased. Something lurking up there. Lima ha...

meanderingmummy | random ramblings on the joys and woes of parenting
Random ramblings on the joys and woes of parenting. July 18, 2013. We’ve been loving the hot weather- the boys don’t seem too bothered by it and I’m in my element! It has also meant that much of our play has been outside and it has been messy! This is a picture from today, the swamp’s second outing, as I couldn’t get a pic of the first one before little hands got busy! The dry land was made of a mix of oats, lentils and some stray green rice and the swamp was made with Gelli Baff. This did the trick as a...

Meandering Murphy
Thursday, 26 April 2012. This evening I was coaching 2* for the Enre Paddlers. As it was quite windy it was an obvious choice to introduce the group to the idea of trim. Trim is were you position the weight in the boat so that it remains easier to control in windy conditions. The simplest way to explain it is while paddling into the wind have your weight forward and your weight back when paddling down wind. We also had a look at the draw stroke and started looking at different ways to turn our boats.

Musings of the Meandering Murphys
It was a short-lived stay. Nine months ago, the Meandering Murphys thought we'd be in a completely different scenario than the one we're in now. If you look back through the blog posts, you can see the high hopes that began to dwindle as the calendar pages turned. First Day on the Job. Yosemite National Park next to a fallen Sequoyah. In late June, Chris's new Dubai position began. This was the first international family-move for this company, and we were its guinea pigs. It's going to be fine. Since the...
