Historical Craic: January 2009
http://skmaloney.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2009. Nothing is better at engaging a kid’s attention like a video game. Some of the most popular ones these days simulate war experiences. So when a museum wants to try and engage kids in history, they try their best to be cool and create its own game too! I was first introduced to the game “Over the Top”. By my fourth year university professor, Graham Broad. This game, which is located on the Canadian War Museum’s. It’s really an interesting game! Let me know how far you get!

Historical Craic: Bunratty Lessons
http://skmaloney.blogspot.com/2008/12/bunratty-lessons.html
Wednesday, December 3, 2008. You can quote me on that. It’s absolutely ridiculous! On a weekend off, my boyfriend and I would rent a car and head out on their alley-like highways to see what we could find. We would drive until we saw little signs that said something like ‘Dunguare castle’. Then we’d swerve off searching for these old ruins, sometimes finding ourselves in the middle of a field riddled with cows just to see remnants of a church or castle. (no joke! At least until now! Moving On: New Site.

Historical Craic: February 2009
http://skmaloney.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 23, 2009. One more thing about Sachsenhausen. There is one thing I forgot to mention about this camp that I thought might offer some historical craic to others. In the back of the camp there is a large memorial that, I want to say, the Germans put up in remembrance of those who suffered at the camp. It's a fairly large memorial that can be seen from all over the site. Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Get my ANTM pose in front of this pole thing! Eat your heart out Tyra! I mean, how can you be ...

The Workshed: October 2008
http://theworkshed.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Oblique observations about obvious stuff. Monday, October 27, 2008. Confessions of a Halloweenie. I am a bona. Certified, deep fried Halloweenie. I have always loved Halloween, and I still do. Marshmallow Man. And no matter how secretly grateful I was to my mother at the end of the long, cold night, I would still kick up the same fuss the following year and the cycle would continue. That came up was from the white. Are few and far between. I would argue to those groups that Halloween and Christmas have s...

The Workshed: September 2008
http://theworkshed.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Oblique observations about obvious stuff. Sunday, September 14, 2008. The Play's the Thing. I love theatre. Full stop. I love movies too, and perhaps one day I will write a blog about my obsession with movies, but right now, I want to talk about theatre. They are at the most socially tumultuous point of their lives, and can be distracted by worries. About friendships, romantic relationships, and how much Axe deodorant. Spray to apply after gym class in order to attract the opposite sex. I was completely ...

Oblique observations about obvious stuff. Thursday, April 28, 2011. I think William and Kate are trying to steal my thunder . Hello, blog readers? Are there any of you left out there? Have I lost you all as a result of my long, ridiculous absence? Well, it would serve me right, wouldn't it? Meh I think they're trying to steal my thunder. Declaration of a lifelong commitment between two heterosexual human beings. Will and Kate: 1900. Alison and Jonathon: 90. They are very rich, and will have lots of thing...

The Workshed: February 2013
http://theworkshed.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Oblique observations about obvious stuff. Sunday, February 3, 2013. After coming home and researching the musical today, I have learned that the "Grease" that most of us know today, whether on film or onstage has little resemblance to the original Grease. According to Wikipedia, the original version that was performed in Chicago with painted paper backdrops in 1971 was so dark and gritty that they toned it down for its first Broadway run in 1972. Scott Miller's excellent essay "Inside Grease". Danny is d...

Oblique observations about obvious stuff. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Screw integrity . I just can't make myself read this book. Okay, here's the thing. When I started this blog in February, my very first idea (after writing about how difficult it is to choose a blog name. Was to write about "The Secret," Oprah Winfrey's book choice and latest pet philosophy. Note: technically I suppose that it's not even her latest pet philosophy - now she is on to Eckhart. Secret. Do you feel better? According to "The S...

The Workshed: January 2014
http://theworkshed.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Oblique observations about obvious stuff. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. It has been a cold winter in Ontario. A really, really, record-breakingly cold winter. So it was with great appreciation that I read the OSPCA's press bulletin that urged pet owners to keep companion animals inside when necessary. The bulletin also made specific mention of pets in vehicles, saying that an empty car acts like a refrigerator, and dogs should not be left there for more than the briefest amount of time. Sovegetarian it wa...
