Megan in Nepal

Monday, 22 March 2010. We started off in the doll collection with cabinet after cabinet of dolls representing different countries. There was no standard doll so I came to the conclusion that each country had donated dolls representing itself. The dolls themselves were generally grubby and thick with dust, mothballs were scattered around. And there did not appear to be any logical sequence to the countries. Pakistan and Sri Lanka were buffered in one section by Israel. After the lesson we sat outside to t...

Megan in Nepal: Momo Magic

http://meginnepal.blogspot.com/2010/03/momo-magic.html

Monday, 22 March 2010. The amount of ginger and garlic we got through was also phenomenal but this can only be a good thing. After the lesson we sat outside to taste our efforts which were pretty good, even if our momo’s did break away from the traditional form. The photo above shows the momo’s ready for steaming. I’ll endeavor to hold a few Nepali dinner’s when I get back. NB Momo Magic is also the name of my favourite momo restaurant in Kathmandu. 12 January 2014 at 12:17. View my complete profile.

Megan in Nepal: November 2009

http://meginnepal.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, 8 November 2009. On the way to Monkey Temple. A Monkey at Monkey Temple. Gateway to Monkey Temple. View of the mountains from the roof of the refuge. After a break for lunch we continued with part two and discovered a huge Buddhist shrine not far away - there are three enourmous figures in gold (Buddha is in the middle) on the side of the hill. Our final destination (a Hindu shrine) was a bit disappointing in comparison but the walk was lovely. I'll post some photos now. Monday, 2 November 2009.

Megan in Nepal: February 2010

http://meginnepal.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 24 February 2010. Look at this amazing picture I managed to take while on a stroll along the river with N. We’re not totally sure about the rationale behind blow-torching a buffalo but I guess it must be something to do with preserving or preparing the leather. While I was taking this a supervisor shouted at me not to take any photographs so I'm glad I got this one. Simi and Megan's Nepali Adventure. The trail caters very well for trekkers and there are shops and hotels right along the route.

http://meginnepal.blogspot.com/2010/02/next-day-after-simi-finally-got-taste.html

Wednesday, 24 February 2010. The next day, after Simi finally got a taste of Sunita’s amazing dahl bhat, which she compared to her own mothers cooking (big compliment for Sunita! We walked over to Baber Mahal which is a smart shopping and restaurant complex. We decided against eating there and plumped for a South Indian place listed in the guide book. We took a micro which Simi thought was hilarious – I think the novelty has worn off on me! 26 February 2010 at 06:32. PS think you should write a book xxx.

My Life in Micronesia

My Life in Micronesia. Monday, April 23, 2012. Friday, March 23, 2012. Whatever stereotype you have of me drinking coconuts in the islands is probably true. Coconut meat is another delightful gift of the coconut tree. Personally, I like my coconuts young. When they're older the water gets fizzy tasting and the meat is too hard. When they're young, the meat is almost gelatinous and can be slurped out of the nut; it's delicious. Wednesday, March 21, 2012. To Kill A Mockingbird. The lessons are timeless, it...

Montreal is for... | One girl's journey to finish a sentence.

Montreal is for…. One girl's journey to finish a sentence. You Stay Classy, Montreal. Posted by Meg Rafferty. April 7, 2013. So I leave Montreal this week. Like, permanently. And I have mixed feelings about it. There were times when I was homesick for pizza and American Netflix and thought this day would literally never come, times when I would have given anything to be able to say that I could count on my fingers the amount of … Continue reading →. meginmotion | musings on life & faith

Where have I traveled? Musings on life and faith. May 10, 2015. Hello Friends, It’s Been a While. I worked, full-time. Usually a couple hours over that actually. This is not exciting, but 40 hours a week is a real time commitment, second only to sleeping. Oh, and the rest of my immediate family was there too, and I love them also.). Beach Sunset in Florida, USA. We also celebrated my dad’s birthday. Really at both parties, the focus was on my niece, and no one minded. Such is life. I went to a weekend wo...
