Disclaimer: The contents of this blog do not represent the views of the Peace Corps, solely that of the author. Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Journal: August 27, 2009. I feel as if I've been making a lot of goals lately, in preparation for leaving Mali. Yesterday, for example, I cooked zamen, or riz au gras, successfully for the first time in Mali, all by myself, without burning or undercooking the rice, which has been my problem in the past (rice here seems to cook faster for some reason). Now I only have...

My Life in Micronesia
My Life in Micronesia. Monday, April 23, 2012. Friday, March 23, 2012. Whatever stereotype you have of me drinking coconuts in the islands is probably true. Coconut meat is another delightful gift of the coconut tree. Personally, I like my coconuts young. When they're older the water gets fizzy tasting and the meat is too hard. When they're young, the meat is almost gelatinous and can be slurped out of the nut; it's delicious. Wednesday, March 21, 2012. To Kill A Mockingbird. The lessons are timeless, it...

Montreal is for…. One girl's journey to finish a sentence. You Stay Classy, Montreal. Posted by Meg Rafferty. April 7, 2013. So I leave Montreal this week. Like, permanently. And I have mixed feelings about it. There were times when I was homesick for pizza and American Netflix and thought this day would literally never come, times when I would have given anything to be able to say that I could count on my fingers the amount of … Continue reading →. Where have I traveled? Musings on life and faith. May 10, 2015. Hello Friends, It’s Been a While. I worked, full-time. Usually a couple hours over that actually. This is not exciting, but 40 hours a week is a real time commitment, second only to sleeping. Oh, and the rest of my immediate family was there too, and I love them also.). Beach Sunset in Florida, USA. We also celebrated my dad’s birthday. Really at both parties, the focus was on my niece, and no one minded. Such is life. I went to a weekend wo...

Monday, 22 March 2010. We started off in the doll collection with cabinet after cabinet of dolls representing different countries. There was no standard doll so I came to the conclusion that each country had donated dolls representing itself. The dolls themselves were generally grubby and thick with dust, mothballs were scattered around. And there did not appear to be any logical sequence to the countries. Pakistan and Sri Lanka were buffered in one section by Israel. After the lesson we sat outside to t...
