Now I know I previously said that I was done with ruins, but it would have been a bit stupid to miss out on Tikal, some of the finest Mayan ruins around, while I was on the area, so I rocked on over to check them out. I won’t bother with the history of Tikal, other than to point out that it was formed under the rule of King Yax Moch Xoc around AD230 and flourished under King Great Jaguar Paw in the mid-4th century.
