Uutiset ovat täällä viime päivinä koostunet lähinnä Queenslandia koettelevista tulvista. Kyseessä onkin melko epätavallinen tilanne. Vastaavia tulvia on siellä viimeksi koettu 70-luvulla. Samaan hengenvetoon täytyy todeta, että tulviin on myös totuttu. Aloitimme perjantaina reilun viikon mittaisen loman täällä Perthissä. Perth on yllättävän kaukana Canberrasta, sillä suora lento kesti melkein viisi tuntia. Laskeuduttuamme kapteeni kertoi, että terminaalissa oli palohälytys, ja että meidän edellämme oli kaksikymmentä konetta odottamassa vuoroaan päästä terminaaliin. Aloitin neljän viikon kesälomani torstaina 10. joulukuuta lentämällä töiden jälkeen Sydneyyn isää ja veljeäni vastaan. He tulivat lentoaseman portista ulos noin yhdentoista maissa illalla, ja sitten pääsinkin totuttelemaan taas puhumaan suomea. Kun olimme selvinneet hotellille menimme vielä lähipubiin parille oluelle, ja kylläpä olikin hienoa olla oluella kadun varressa lämpimänä iltana isän ja veljen kanssa, joita kumpaakaan en ollut nähnyt noin puoleentoista vuoteen. Muutimme hiljattain vuokralle taloon, joka on melkein samalla kadulla kuin edellinen talomme Canberrassa. Tilaa riittää vieraillekin, sillä tässä talossa on kolme makuuhuonetta, kaksi vessaa suihkuineen ja kaksi olohuonetta. Olen tosin vallannut toisen olohuoneen työtilaksi :) Miinuspuoleksi laskettakoon keskuslämmityksen puuttuminen. After big farewell party I had to say second goodbyes to my good friend Andy. He was heading to Northern Thailand and Chiang Mai and was planning to do some meditation there. Crazy guy.
