http://aliciatunafisha.blogspot.com/2012/05/ctn-vietnamese-grilled-steak-salad.html
One foot on the trail and the other in the kitchen. Friday, May 4, 2012. CTN: Vietnamese Grilled Steak Salad. Except, for me, it wasn't steak. Nor was anything grilled. And I didn't take pictures- again. I have gotten very far behind on my cooking, baking, and writing. I haven't left my link on the last two TWD posts (although I did make the Lemon Loaf Cake- which I would highly recommend to anybody), haven't made the last TWD baked good, and haven't caught up with Cook This Now. All of which were true!

One foot on the trail and the other in the kitchen. Sunday, March 25, 2012. Spicy Black Beans with Chorizo. When I realized, on Thursday night, that I had forgotten it was Thursday, I previewed the recipe and was very pleased to see that it used canned black beans. I'm sure it would have been better with homemade black beans- but I didn't have any in the house and didn't feel like making them. Pete was home and I had JUST thrown chopped onions into the pan! He would see them! I will definitely make this ...

My culinary obsession… for now |

My culinary obsession… for now. December 2, 2011 in Recipes. Hattiesburg could really use an Indian restaurant. Instead of another Chinese or Japanese place, could we get some Indian food, please? No way would I turn that down. So I watched and drank wine as she chopped and mixed up one of the tastiest things I ever put in my mouth. No coconut milk required. And I was hooked. I had to learn more. That she adapted from Madhur Jaffrey. The beauty of this dish is that it can be altered in so many differ...

February 2, 2012 in Cook This Now. I don’t play words with friends. I think it would be fun, but I’d probably be a little too obsessive about it. I could justify it as making me smarter and spending time with friends, but I just can’t seem to part with the time I’d spend coming up with words to beat the pants off all my friends. Olive Oil-Almond Cake with Vanilla Mascarpone. Spicy Black Beans with Chorizo and Jalapenos. Kate’s Impossibly Fudgy Brownies. Chile-Coconut Braised Beef Short Ribs. February 7, ...

One foot on the trail and the other in the kitchen. Thursday, April 19, 2012. CTN: Matzoh Brei and Chilaquiles. Although I made the Matzoh Brei more than a week ago, I have not had an opportunity to write about it until now. Busy times. Six tablespoons. As you can see, that more than coats the bottom of the pan. After we had all tasted the Matzoh Brei, I decided that I would make Chilaquiles to round out the meal. Here is my recipe for Chilaquiles:. About 2 garlic cloves. Take some corn tortillas (I used...

One foot on the trail and the other in the kitchen. Thursday, March 22, 2012. Potatoes and Brownies and Circuit Analysis. I signed up for MIT's free class on circuits and electronics. It was free. And it was from MIT. The prerequisites for the class are AP Physics, Calculus, and Linear Algebra. I have taken all of those classes. Yes, that was 30 years ago, but I took them. But I have become obsessed with it, which means that all of my spare time (ha! The brownies- what can I say? View my complete profile.
