He came running down the stairs the morning of Nick's birthday and immediately asked "Is Nicky 1 now? When I assured him he was, he excitedly said "Yes! Tim, Lonita, Joshua and Nicholas. Sunday, June 9, 2013. A few weeks ago, we had family pictures taken for Nick's 1-year-pics. We went with the first appointment available, as Nick tends to look increasingly like a mug shot of Nick Nolte as the day wears on, and his level of what can only be categorized as "craziness" shoots up. A few of the better pics below (hey, we're all generally looking in the vicinity of the camera! Perhaps one of these days we'll even get around to sending out the prints.

Winter was pretty uneventful for us (I mostly remember cold and snow), but Josh and Nick enjoyed going to the Omaha Zoo with Grandma (and Tim) on one of the nicer days in February.. Nick finally moved out of the crib and into a big-boy bed. Upside: He loves the new truck-themed bedding he picked out. Downside: He can easily escape his new sleeping arrangements. The two of them decided to put on their own show during the Super Bowl halftime.

Tim, Lonita, Joshua and Nicholas. Saturday, December 21, 2013. After Thanksgiving week in Vegas, we drove to San Diego to visit David, Krissie and Ellie. Traffic there was atrocious - it took 9 hours when we'd planned on it taking around 5. We had to scrap our original plans to hit the Oceanside beach and pier on the way there, so we regrouped the next morning and headed there then. . Josh was eager to get to digging in the sand and playing in the water as soon as possible. Grinch who stole Christmas.

We took the train from Madrid to Seville (Josh and Nick were excited to see the pictures of the high-speed trains we sent to Grandma) - we were happy to see the temperature steadily climb as we went south.. We stayed at a tourist apartment just across Torre del Oro (tower of gold, pictured below).. One of our first stops was the beautiful Plaza de Espana and nearby park.
