Life in Middle School: Medieval Shield Project

http://middleschoolforlife.blogspot.com/2014/07/medieval-shield-project.html

Friday, July 4, 2014. So, I'm going to pretend like I've been blogging this whole time! Long story short, class was misery and I'd rather not think about those kids one moment longer than I needed to! I'll be moving to a 6th grade high achiever class for next year, so hopefully I'll have more inspiration! This past year, I brought back a fun project for my students to work on - the Medieval Shield. I'll tell you one thing, students love to talk about their favorite topic - THEMSELVES. Additionally, even ...

Life in Middle School: A Peek at my Week - Week #6

http://middleschoolforlife.blogspot.com/2013/09/a-peek-at-my-week-week-6.html

Sunday, September 15, 2013. A Peek at my Week - Week #6. I'm excited to be back for another installment for a Peek at my Week linky! It's funny, I have stuff to blog about during the week, but it's been hard to get going after a long day a work. I have pictures from my Interactive Student Notebooks, a lesson called "Hooks from Books" and my common assessment woes. (Woes! The posts I write in my head are pretty awesome people. If only I had my clone available to write them. It's another full week for me:.

Fast Times of a Middle School Math Teacher: EdExpo 2014

http://fasttimesofamiddleschoolmathteacher.blogspot.com/2014/03/edexpo-2014.html

Monday, March 17, 2014. I had the amazing opportunity to attend the 2014 education expo in Dallas Texas over the weekend of March 8th. I was asked to attend as a "teacher trendsetter" and rank my top 10 favorite products at the expo. I have so many products to talk about but I thought you might enjoy a good laugh first. The night before I decided to take a taxi to the train and hope on the blue line to get to O'hare. I finally got inside of the correct terminal and checked into the correct airline. A...

Fast Times of a Middle School Math Teacher: June 2014

http://fasttimesofamiddleschoolmathteacher.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 2, 2014. Today was SOOOO much fun! My students took turns running their games and playing other students' games. The other 7th grade math teachers sent groups of 5 students over to test our games. I gave each student a stamp card which was their "payment" to play the games (usually one stamp). This was helpful for visiting students because they went back to class when their stamps were used. Two pairs of students did maze games where the dice decided your path. We also had the lollipop pull!

Mrs K in the Middle. My life as a middle school math teacher. Sorting Key Words and Symbols. I’m baaaack… 😉 After a long hiatus, I’m ready to begin blogging again. Last year was incredibly difficult and I couldn’t bring myself to write about school when it was so tough. I was, however, incredibly fortunate to be honored as one of my school’s two Teachers of the Year (! Last year, and, after the year I had, I really feel like I earned it! More about that later…. Learning in the Fast Lane. Students’...
