Dawes Family in New Zealand: Down Time
http://dawesinnz.blogspot.com/2009/04/down-time.html
Friday, April 03, 2009. Well we have been a little busy here at Dawes HQ recently creating a new website for our blog - you may have seen the notice on our blog page. We are still working on it and it's become a very interesting little challenge! So why the change? Well after a couple of years of blogging we felt our much loved blog was worth an upgrade. Unfortunately for Blogger they don't really support the dynamic and rich content we want to display, so we are switching to a Wordpress. To read about o...

Dawes Family in New Zealand: September 2008
http://dawesinnz.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 29, 2008. Yes these delightful little darlings were only a few of the overall amount we found in the garden today! I decided to tackle the garden. A good idea at the time but I certainly did not realise how much work it would be! The house is on 942 square metres of land, and looking at the 'odd bits' that I thought could do with a tidy up, ended up in a mammoth 3 hours in the garden! I can tell my 30's are sneaking up on me now (ha ha). Oh and the snails? Well that photo above is just ...

Dawes Family in New Zealand: October 2008
http://dawesinnz.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2008. Ah, the memories. Adorned with the best home made costume and wearing mammy's make-up, standing on tiptoes as I peeked out of the window onto the night so very dark. Candles flickering in the windows of every house in the street. Hearing laughter and singing from the street outside, and the full bright moon shimmering its path into the distance. Scurrying out past the carved turnip I made with mammy earlier (don't know why we never had pumpkins! Happily falling asleep under the ...

Dawes Family in New Zealand: August 2008
http://dawesinnz.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 30, 2008. As you know Denver. Is now part of our family, from the moment we saw him at the SPCA. We knew he was the one for us. The journey over the last 4 months has been amazing, we have laughed (he is a clumsy puppy), cried (he likes to eat our garden plants! And been totally amazed as to how much he has grown! See photo below as demonstrated by Bethany! Now we knew when we got him that he was somewhat a mix of Bullmastiff. At Paws In The City. The classes are held in Aro. We met Juli...

Dawes Family in New Zealand: January 2009
http://dawesinnz.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2009. All Good Things Must Come To An End. So that moment came, the one of sorrowful sad heartbreaking goodbyes. It was a lot harder than we thought it would be, a huge jolt that we are still recovering from now. You count the days, the minutes and the seconds to the arrival, and in the blink of an eye it's gone. At least we can proudly say it was an amazing blink. In the distance. We had an awesome walk, finally retreating as the intense heat got the better of us. Were we got to e...

Dawes Family in New Zealand: November 2008
http://dawesinnz.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 29, 2008. Summer, Summer, Summertime. It's 7.50am as I write this now. Michael and Bethany have gone off to do their Saturday morning swim thing. Leaving me home alone. Normally I would take advantage of this and have a bit of a lie in but on a day like today that's not going to happen! The 1st of December is officially the start. Then I know for a fact this will become way of life for us now for many months to come. Bethany prepared her list to Santa, it took us nearly an hour to sit ...

Dawes Family in New Zealand: Bush Fires
http://dawesinnz.blogspot.com/2009/03/bush-fires.html
Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Yet one thing we can't escape being on the other side of the world are the issues that affect our every day lives. Things like earthquakes, landslides and flooding are all every day occurrences here in New Zealand, but worse still on the hot days we are plagued by bush fires. Of course most of you will know about the horrific happenings in Australia. Our neighbour. The unbelievable bush fires that ripped through most of Victoria. This story from April 2007. We hate our neighbours'.
