Cycling Across America: Day 28 Niles to Dunkirk (139 miles)
http://mike-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/05/no-post-today-my-love-has-gone-away.html
Tales of my attempt to cycle coast to coast. Saturday, 16 May 2009. Day 28 Niles to Dunkirk (139 miles). Dodgy internet connection last night, that was the only reason for the delay in posting. 139 miles, one hundred and thirty nine miles. ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY NINE MILES. Easiest 139 miles I ever rode. A lot of the afternoon was spent near the shores of Lake Erie. A bit foggy so couldn't see very far, but Canada is out there somewhere. Cycling Across America: Day 19 Kirksville to Quincy (91 miles)
http://mike-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/05/day-19-kirkville-to-quincy-91-miles.html
Tales of my attempt to cycle coast to coast. Thursday, 7 May 2009. Day 19 Kirksville to Quincy (91 miles). Well another day and another state, we're in Illinois now, the birthplace of Lincoln. It was big rollers again today. The photo is kind of typical of the beautiful meadowland. The sun was (unexpectedly) out most of the day and it was quite warm. Staying in a Comfort Inn this evening. It rates quite highly in my heirachy of chain hotels, although it doesn't have a fridge. For amber waves of grain.
Cycling Across America: Day 20 Quincy to Springfield (101 miles)
http://mike-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/05/day-20-quincy-to-springfield-101-miles.html
Tales of my attempt to cycle coast to coast. Friday, 8 May 2009. Day 20 Quincy to Springfield (101 miles). Did stay awake long enough last night to hear a thunderstorm passing through. Thought 'great, that's that out the way, tomorrow is bound to be a nice day, sweet dreams to me'. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). O beautiful for spacious skies. For amber waves of grain. For purple mountain majesties. Above the fruited plain! God shed his grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood. Day 26 Mary...
Cycling Across America: Day 23 Tuscola to Lebanon (121 miles)
http://mike-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/05/day-23-tuscola-to-lebanon-121-miles.html
Tales of my attempt to cycle coast to coast. Monday, 11 May 2009. Day 23 Tuscola to Lebanon (121 miles). It's Monday, it must be - Indiana. Photo shows Team Kysirium and our young padawan (Sam) entering our ninth state (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinoi and Indiana.). Cycling Across America: Day 30 Batavia to Liverpool (122 miles)
http://mike-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/05/day-30-batavia-to-liverpool-122-miles.html
Tales of my attempt to cycle coast to coast. Monday, 18 May 2009. Day 30 Batavia to Liverpool (122 miles). So fortunately managed to get the winter stuff dried over night because it was effing freezing this morning. It was 36 degrees (F) that's only 2 degrees C. That's means we've had almost a 70 degree temperature range this trip, from 36, to 104 in the desert. Needless to say it was hat and big gloves time again. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). O beautiful for spacious skies. Save the Tassie Devil.

Monday, 11 May 2009. Here's the spare room - or Allen and Deirdre's room as it's known. Lucky you aren't staying for a couple of months. Even Jason has refused to sleep in here and we all know how he loves his bed. Back to main page.

Monday, 11 May 2009. But if we turn away from the scud missile site that is my lawn, and look up - at last the windows are in. Apparantly the delay was all my fault for refusing to have UPVC windows. If I had agreed to something so monstrous they would have been in weeks ago. I think they were worth the wait. Almost as much as my glittery floor tiles, which I love the most. Back to main page.

FAQ section: Are you doing this for charity?
http://faq-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/04/are-you-doing-this-for-charity.html
Friday, 3 April 2009. Are you doing this for charity? Raising money was not the motivation for this ride, I'm. Doing it for purely selfish reasons. However if you'd like to donate to a very worthwhile cause I can recommend the Save The Tasmanian Devil Appeal. What I love about these creatures is that their only evolutionary advantage, the only reason they've survived for thousands of years is that they eat ANYTHING. They're not particularly clever and they're quite aggressive. Back to main page.

http://loft-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/05/final-additions-to-loft-room-are-some.html
Monday, 18 May 2009. The final additions to the loft room are some rails to prevent cats jumping out of the window. Here Colin demonstrates the effectiveness, although I expect he's just lulling us into a false sense of security. Jason can't actually climb the second set of stairs, let alone get on to the windowsill. Back to main page.

Monday, 18 May 2009. Here's the point where I wish we had considered other options around the fire regulations. As most of you know, I've not entertained the idea of a sprinkler system, mainly as I suspect as the flood water rises, the final straw will be eveything we have moved out of the flood water being soaked from the sprinkler. Well the tank to supply the sprinklers arrived today, not sure the picture puts it's vastness into perspective. Back to main page.

Monday, 11 May 2009. Now I know what your thinking, why is there a picture of a dirty floor - but these at black granite tiles with subtle bits of irridescent glitter embedded in them. To be fair, you can't see these said bits of glitter but trust me, they look lovely. Back to main page.
FAQ section: Do you shave your legs?
http://faq-c2shiningc.blogspot.com/2009/03/do-you-shave-your-legs.html
Friday, 27 March 2009. Do you shave your legs? No I'm unlikely to be standing on any winner's podiums any time soon and I don't want to get mistaken for a proper cyclist. Also it apparently gets itchy if you do it for the first time. Back to main page.

Mike with a glioma... what'll ya do?
Mike with a glioma. what'll ya do? Monday, November 30, 2009. Today we finished moving Mike's stuff out of his Oak Park Apartment. It was difficult, such finality to it. Nicole and her parents helped us, as did Justin, and we appreciate their help greatly. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends! Here's a bit a Michael trivia that you probably didn't know:. Tuesday, November 24, 2009. The date is Monday, November 30th, at 6:00 pm. Then, as we held hands, including Michael's,...

Cycling Across America
Tales of my attempt to cycle coast to coast. Friday, 29 May 2009. We were very lucky with the group we had, no massive egos or aggresive atheletes. (Bermuda) Mike, Jay, Paul, Robert, Andy and Linda, it was great riding with you. In my final speech I talked about team Kysirium (Tom, Ron and Sam) and how great it was working as a team. I probably didn’t mention Eric and Jack enough, I really enjoyed their company. So that’s it. What’s next? Saturday, 23 May 2009. Day 33 Keene to Amesbury (112 miles). Yes, ...
