Michael's Health Story. Monthly Archives: August 2014. I got the radiology report and no abnormalities were found. Whew! I’m still not in the clear, since they give two years for new tumors to grow to a detectible size, but nonetheless I am very glad to grateful for news. Thank you everyone who sent your well wishes. Michael's Health Story. Monthly Archives: September 2013. Back to my old self – mostly. Today the surgeon removed the portacath. From my chest. I am very happy to have it out. I was a little apprehensive about the surgery to remove it, since I would be awake. He just used a local anesthetic. We talked about hiking while he was working, it took him about 20 minutes. There are two layers of sutures under the skin, then just “superglue” on the top. Now I can wear a backpack again. Yay! September 13, 2013.

Michael's Health Story. One year ago today: S 4. A year ago today was much better than the previous few days. I met my oncologist for the first time, she came to my hospital room after a meeting with my surgeon. A very intelligent, positive, sweet and caring woman: I liked her immediately. Tuesday, September 12, 2017. The crazy way I make mac and cheese. I just got back from the gym and I'm fighting the impulse to make and devour whole a box of mac and cheese. While the pasta part would actually be good for an after workout snack. The cheese will block some of the carb absorption, slows digestion and of course is calorically dense.
