miki d'kolan: May 2016
http://mikidkolan.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 8, 2016. PhKDick, "The man in the high castle". Reading of this book was a travel in time, not only beacuse it moved me to some alternative space-time, but also because of shifting me for some 30 years in my private time-the time when I read it the first time. I lived in so different a world then, that thinking of it seems equally imaginary as this novel's story. Superb story, with a quality above mere story-telling. Alternative history? Thursday, May 5, 2016. I read it first some 25 years ag...

miki d'kolan: March 2016
http://mikidkolan.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 20, 2016. Necessary a post-humous publication, probably not even meant to be else, since it is full of "non-acceptable" (at his time) details, like his homosexuality, and ofen using the service of street whores, male or female, or being involved into hazardous street-sex encounters, which even brought him some visits to local police stations. I was attracted to the book by the possibilty to know more about the author, whom I appreciate for independence of thought when it was not at all simp...

miki d'kolan: Ferdydurke
http://mikidkolan.blogspot.com/2016/05/ferdydurke.html
Thursday, May 5, 2016. Reading of Witold Gombrowicz's "Kronos" motivated me to re-read some of his works again. Nothing more logical than going for his first, "Ferdydurke". I read it first some 25 years ago, in Croatian translation, and later also in Polish original, probably this very example I read this time. As usual, the book is the same, the reader changes. When in my first reading I was a pup-pup-pupil myself, which could. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Miki, Kolan Pag. My blog in Croatian, as...

Monday, June 27, 2005. Rafting the Xiuguluan river, views of mountains and ocean. This weekend I was happy to join the party of young people for the Hualien county, on the Pacific side of Taiwan, to go rafting the Xiuguluan river. Well, you can write it, as usual, also as Siaokuluan, Hsiukuluan.webpage. Http:/ 202.39.225.132/jsp/Eng/html/travel tour/. But let me go slowly. Thanks to Meiyunn, a brotherly (sisterly! Jack "Seven", one of the organizers, posted on his blog full photo record of the rafting tr...

Tuesday, August 30, 2005. Weekend in Japan-sounds a bit crazy, but I did it. With "a little" (in fact substantial) help of my friends, I did it. And it was magnificent. Keiko of Chiba, Kaori&Gergo of Japan/Budapest, and Svjetlana of Dublin/Teslic gave the magic Power to the event :-). Logistics in Taiwan provided by Meiyunn and Monlysa, who found and organised the cheaper tickets for me 2 days before the flight. magic, I say! But, let's start with ilustrations, I again made some almost 300 pics. Im)possi...

Monday, October 16, 2006. Taiwan full circle part four.Green Island. This comes late, but I had hectic summer-see my mikidhellas blog. But I want to round the circle, so I finish these postings. The last new part of Taiwan for me was also the sweetest one for a Croatian happy in Taiwan. My first cruise in Pacific! It is volcanic island, what explains the features you will see. Leaving the 'mainland' of Taiwan. Streets through the villages were quite good, like this one. Posted by mikidkolan at 2:52 AM.

Saturday, December 26, 2015. S Jobs Biography by Walter Isaacson. Old good Marxistic method is that one should know his enemy. Being a good pupil in the Titoistic times of former Yu, I am definitely a purest of Marxists. I am certainly a promoter of Open Source and I chant with Richard Stallman in praise of free software, following the thorny path of St. IGNUcius: "There is no system but GNU, and Linux is one of its kernels.". Weird Someone should be fired! Oh yes, sure, but for what a price? The simples...

Monday, July 25, 2005. Sun Moon Lake (Ceh, Meh i Leh). Three brothers, Czech, Mech and Lech (later two stand for Russian and Polish-say I am kind of Polish also, no? So, this time three Slavic guys met to conquer a hill above the Sun Moon Lake, Mt. Shueishe (2059 m). About the Lake itself see http:/ www.sunmoonlake.gov.tw/smlen/main.jsp. One impression I give here - it is the largest lake in Taiwan. This picture looks as any similar picture from Ohrid, Bled or some similar lake, yes? 1850 stone stairs,.

Friday, April 29, 2005. Today I went to the City Police for my ARC (Alien Resident Certificate-and who says I am not on Mars? Alien residing here.). I obtained it without any troubles, and with lots of pleasant smiles. Never, nowhere in Europe I got the papers so quick. And they spoke English, yes, not as it is usual in some other countries that ladies in such office speak only (very) local dialect. But we remember Venice, eh? One day this will be walking-zone, now it's quite busy rondo. Sometimes I know...
