Situated on 80 rolling acres along the Mingo creek, Mingo Stables is a full service, private boarding stable offering full and field board. The historic 18th century stone bank barn features 5 - 10X12 box stalls, feed room, tack room, cross tie space and wash areas. There are three separate barns that house 8 additional stalls. All stalls are matted and equipped with fans in the summer, heated water buckets in the winter. A full service boarding stable.
Lessons

Ship-ins welcome for an additional $10.00 fee. A limited number of lesson horses available for an additional $10.00 rental fee. ASTM approved headgear, long pants and hard soled shoes with a heel are required and Release forms must be signed for all persons riding horses. A 24 hour cancellation notice is required for all lessons scheduled. You are financially responsible for lessons not cancelled within 24 hours. Lessons are provided to Mingo Stables boarders by the following trainers:.

Rates

Full board: $485.00/month; $20.00/day. Large matted box stall with pelleted pine bedding, cleaned daily. Daily turnout (night turnout in summer/day turnout in winter). Twice daily feeding with up to 6 lbs of feed daily, supplements added (owner provided). Free-choice hay in covered feeders. Spring and fall worming as needed per fecal count. Blanketing/booting/fly masks changed as needed. All scheduling and handling for vet/dentist (Complete Equine Health Service) and farrier (Joe Osbeck).

A newly renovated 5-stall barn that is located in close proximity to the ring has it's own paddock, tack room, cross tie space and wash areas. Additionally, there is a smaller 2-stall barn and the owners have their own private 3-stall barn.

Mingo Swamp Friends is a non-profit organization and independent group of conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts dedicated to supporting the primary purposes of the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge was established by the U.S. Congress in 1944 to provide food and shelter for migratory waterfowl and to conserve and protect 21,592 acres of bottomland and upland forests of the Mingo Basin and Mingo Wilderness Area.
