Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: August 2008
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Friday, August 29, 2008. What am I doing here? Now where to start? Well, where am I in life? The problem now is translating what I have done into something readable. I've been here for a week and done some great stuff. Alaska is amazing. I can't do it justice and I barely have the energy to make a feeble stab at it, so I'll commit some memories to the internet tomorrow - maybe. Monday, August 18, 2008. Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: January 2009
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Saturday, January 17, 2009. 4th Hitch: Dec 3 thru Dec 19. As I looked out the window with the plane descending to the runway in Kuparuk to begin my 4. Hitch, I didn’t know whether I was looking over endless undulating clouds or tundra beneath us. As we descended from the heights through the clouds and fog, I caught my last glimpse of the sun for the next two and a half weeks. Hitch was more comfortable than my previous ones as I got in the groove of things. Balboa’s ov...

Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: 10th hitch: May 20 to June 3
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2009/06/10th-hitch-may-20-to-june-3.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Monday, June 29, 2009. 10th hitch: May 20 to June 3. The flight up to work provided stunning views of Denali and the surrounding mountains. A hitch or two ago, Jack asked me for a new material request sheet. I ended up making him the following sheet, and sending it out to make sure everyone knew to use his new sheet. We found out our most celebrated Mississippi boy was actually born in Boston, so I fabricated this photo of him hanging his head in shame, in his Union blues.

Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: May 2009
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Thursday, May 21, 2009. 8th R&R Apr 4 to Apr 22. Britnie, Connor, and Ian in Resurrection Bay. I took this pic on another flat top trip alone a week later. You can make out the rump tracks sliding down from the very top. Wheeldog on the right was REAL excited. We stayed at the Hotel Seward, a nice hotel near the water with an inspiring taxidermy collection. Dahl Porpoises playin' off the starboard bow. All those sea lions look like slugs on that rock. Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: 9th R&R: May 6 to May 20
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2009/06/9th-r-may-6-to-may-20.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Sunday, June 14, 2009. 9th R&R: May 6 to May 20. I sensed the plane descending as a putrid cloud interrupted my slumber. I tried to ignore it, and speculated that the entire plane had consumed the gut-busting chili at the Kuparuk spike room. As my world closed in back to sleep, I remember the captain announcing that we had flown through a cloud of sulfur fumes from the still-belching Mt. Redoubt. With the Volkswagen monkey off my back for now, I headed to Summerville/Charles...

Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: October 2008
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Sunday, October 19, 2008. Second Hitch: Oct 7 thru Oct 23. Interesting view of the Brooks range on the way up to the slope. Forget college, the real world is where the party's at, apparently. The people I work with make the job awesome. Storytime. I figured I should change the names ever so slightly. Oh, when I got back to Alabama." Of course. That's normal. Yep He usually starts work at 3:30am apparently. I told him, "Well no wonder you're an asshole! I plan on spending som...

Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: July 2009
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Thursday, July 23, 2009. 10th R&R: June 3 to June 14. Chris and Gavin had moved out of the big house into their respective new homes. Matt and Jeff were left, but Jeff was at the slope the whole time I was home. Matt would head back up to the slope a few days before I did. 8221;). The dandelions and fireweed were huge and abundant at the lower elevations. I picked a few and ate them on the way up for sustenance. Who wouldn't want this car? I had dropped the price of the Expl...

Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: 9th hitch: April 22 to May 6
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2009/06/snapped-this-one-of-sunrise-over.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Monday, June 8, 2009. 9th hitch: April 22 to May 6. Snapped this one of sunrise over the Chugach Range that surrounds the Anchorage bowl, from the Airport on the way to work. The days were getting longer and the warmer as I got back to the slope. This was a fairly uneventful hitch (at least, I can’t remember many events looking back on it over a month later), so this post will be brief. Silence on my part). We didn’t really talk as much after that. So here's some pipes:.

Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: 11th R&R: July 1 to July 14
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2009/08/11th-r-july-1-to-july-14.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Wednesday, August 12, 2009. 11th R&R: July 1 to July 14. Here we are having some fun at the indoor range… After shooting the .308 AR-10 Vu’s buddy brought, we didn’t think to take photos of the measly .22. Vu, happily preparing to fix bayonet and charge. Carissa, always the friendly one, was invited to shoot several other handguns by the friendly cowboys at the neighboring booths, including a Keltec .380 subcompact and a single action .22 revolver. Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times: September 2008
http://grizzlyscat.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Grizzly Scat's Alaskan Times. Tuesday, September 9, 2008. Photo update from the slope. Afternoon at Milne Point: that's where I live, work, and sleep for 3 weeks at a time. Prolonged sunset over the tundra. E-pad The oil wells are enclosed in little red shacks like the one visible on the right. That big mess of pipe and machinery in the foreground heats crude that's being pumped down the line to make it flow better. Friday, September 5, 2008. Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs AUG25,26,27,28.
