My Wanderings and Ponderings in the Mojave Desert. Sunday, November 18, 2012. The Summer of 2009: Fun in the Grand Canyon, piloting a pontoon tour boat. In the summer of 2009, on one of my days off, I would work for a company that did a helicopter tour down into the Grand Canyon at the west end of the canyon on the Hualapai Indian reservation. I would drive to the Boulder City airport and fly out to the canyon with Vegas tourists in a 15 passenger, Twin Dehavilland airplane. This photo is looking up-river.
