Well i had one of those and it just wasn't enough. butturned out as a really good side with a couple additions from the pantry/freezer! And it made way more than just the potatoes would. 1 box au gratin potatoes (and milk, margarine, etc. whatever it calls for). 2 cups frozen broccoli. 1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs. 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese. For my boss's birthday this year i thought i'd put a fun spin on an old favorite. so, i made rice krispie treats and pressed them into a 10" springform pan while they were still warm. 12 cups rice krispies (1 lg. box is enough). 1/2 tsp. salt. 20 oz mini marshmallows. Meanwhile, i made up a quick batch of chocolate ganache. 3 cups chocolate chips (a mixture of milk chocolate and semi-sweet is best). 2 cups heavy cream. 1 tsp pure vanilla extract. German chocolate cake. yum! I was terrified to try my first german chocolate cake. it turned out delicious! Melt butter, sugar and vanilla extract together. Slowly whisk in egg yolks and evaporated milk. Stir in cornstarch and bring to a boil to thicken. Sweetened, flaked coconut. Then take boiled mixture off the stove and stir in pecans and coconut. 8 cups (2 qt. bottle) apple cider. 4 cups (1 qt.) cranberry juice cocktail. Peel of 1 small orange. Bring everything (except rum) to a boil. drop the heat to low and simmer for 35 minutes. fish out the cloves, cinnamon sticks and orange peel before serving. if you want to make this an alcoholic cider, add 2 tbsp. dark rum to each mug before you fill it up with cider.
