October 31, 2007. Not a good time. I'm sick. runny nose, sneezing, congestion. it's not bad enough that i'm completely waylaid by it, but it's slowing me down. And it's HORRIBLE timing. i'm supposed to get on a plane to sicily on friday. i hope i can kick this out of my system by then. travelling with a clogged head is no fun. Happy halloween, by the way. i've got a spooky divaville. Planned tonight, if you're interested in listening. 6-9pm Pacific; 9-midnight Eastern. October 28, 2007. In another part, ...

June 29, 2007. I had my last air shift tonight. if you were listening, i deeply apologize for that last on-air break. while i soldiered through the bulk of the three hour shift with only the occasional emotional bobble, that last talk set was largely incoherent. i was trying not to sob, trying to keep my voice from wavering, and completely failing at both. But i also cry because i know it's going to take a long time to build that up again. in fact, i'll be lucky to build it up to the same level at al...

Monday, August 30, 2004. GOP Says Bush A Strong War Time Leader. I have read a lot of articles today about the GOP touting Bush as a strong war time leader. I happen to find that funny. I seem to remember President Bush flying his own fighter jet onto an aircraft carrier, claiming that we have won the war in Iraq. Wouldn't that mean that his time as a leader is not needed anymore? Maybe they mean the War on Terror? What is the Middle Class you ask? I am a proud heterosexual. I do know that makes me n...

How NC Got Its Punk Attitude. Touching on 30 years of NC music history, and focusing, as the title implies, on the thread leading from 60s regional garage-rock to 70s hardrock and protopunk, including the crucial Cigaretz, and on to the 80s hardcore scene. Sam Hicks hits all the high points, and this article is the definitive history of NC independent music and punkrock in the pre-90s/indie-rock era. The Golden Age of North Carolina Music. The Independent Weekly's Capsule History of Local Music. And when...

November 29, 2007. Thanks for your sweet comments and emails, y'all. i appreciate your support. i'm feeling pretty good overall. the counselor is simply helping me maintain my balance. Another thing that's helping is a trial membership at nearby athletic club. Which isn't quite as convenient (and quite a bit smaller) and see how it compares. Now that it's cold and rainy (and snowy! I'm finding i'm not walking to work any more. i miss the exercise. so i hope one of these gyms fits the bill. Almost all of ...

Fiddler's Green: Those who do not learn from history will not notice when it goes into reruns
http://leftofleftofcenter.blogspot.com/2006/07/those-who-do-not-learn-from-history.html
Friday, July 7. Those who do not learn from history will not notice when it goes into reruns. Sure I've got a problem- a big problem- with the Administration dragging a terror alert across their trail whenever they think it suits them. What an amazing coincidence that this story. But frankly, I'm idealist enough to hope that 230 years of (relative) democracy have created a national bullshit detector. Crying wolf is so manifestly short-sighted that its reward is inevitable. Isn't it? Immigrants looked pre...

Fiddler's Green: First draft for a report
http://leftofleftofcenter.blogspot.com/2006/01/first-draft-for-report.html
Tuesday, January 24. First draft for a report. Here's a familiar quote from W's Monday appearance in Kansas: "My most important job is to protect the security of the American people." It struck me as familiar - I thought I remembered previously shuddering at pretty much exactly the same phrase. Much too late that night:. Dang, I'd better finish my research PDQ - in less than 8 hours the hit count has reached 342. Posted by Rah @ 5:09:00 PM. View my complete profile. Just over the way. What time is it?

September 30, 2007. Then tonight i had a date with the boy. we went to this oregon symphony concert. Which we both enjoyed tremendously. on the recommendation of one of my on-air colleagues, we also attended the pre-concert talk (which was, in fact, hosted by this same colleague). this co-worker basically holds a half-hour public discussion with the symphony conductor. Last week. he's really something else. Posted by christa @ 9/30/2007 11:26:00 PM. September 28, 2007. Oddly enough, there are * four.
