la chanson de ma vie: Alaska With Friends
http://ariavie.blogspot.com/2015/08/alaska-with-friends.html
La chanson de ma vie. Friday, August 07, 2015. Rabbit Lake with Mike and Cinthia. Our schedules finally lined up so my hosts, Cinthia. And Mike, took me on a gorgeous, sunny, and easy jaunt to a picturesque alpine lake. After my trip last year, I thought I had finally made peace with leaving Alaska, but this perfect weather had me reconsidering everything. Watching these two reminded me of my relationship with Matt. Her Tern with Angel. When I first booked my tickets to Alaska, Angel. I camped out (with ...

Fireflies and Snow: March 2010
http://firefliesandsnow.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Include local eateries, and often the eatery is more important than the program's destination; sometimes, it is the destination. And every dish is relished. With the first bite it is "uma'! Or "oishii- honto ni oishii" (both mean "tasty", "delicious"). Faces contorted in the most sublime pleasure. Women titter and blush, while men sit back and let out sighs after each bite. Next is tofu. I know, boring, right? Sunday, March 14, 2010. 20 - Bicycles and Transportation. With signs...

Refocusing: Belated Kalamzoo Half Marathon Report
http://refocusedrunner.blogspot.com/2011/05/belated-kalamzoo-half-marathon-report.html
Though on what, I'm not quite sure. Thursday, May 26, 2011. Belated Kalamzoo Half Marathon Report. Chip time 2:04:05, a nearly 5-minute PR, and one hell of a fun weekend! Because of the craziness that is the end of the semester I couldn't commit for sure, but took note of the online registration deadline and decided to make up my mind by then. The night before the deadline it looked like my grades would be done in time, and I signed up. Mile 1: 9:10 (hmmm. That was nice). Mile 2: 8:34 (uh oh.). Just befo...

la chanson de ma vie: February 2015

La chanson de ma vie. Friday, February 27, 2015. Rogue River Half Marathon Race Report. Sunshine floods the room as Matt pulls back the shades. I poke my head out from under the covers, snarl, and then retreat back into the cozy cocoon of puffiness. I'm not in the mood for racing and find myself asking, "Whose idea was this anyways? Of course, it was mine. Oops, hehe. Mile 3, taken last April. Mile 5: 7:46 (double-fistin' water stop). I call out. I'd later learn that this guy was one of my brother's ...

la chanson de ma vie: April 2015
http://ariavie.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
La chanson de ma vie. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. The twenty-six miles of the Boston Marathon course aren't really that remarkable. Weaving its way from the suburbs to the city, I've run several marathons with the same setup. The mystique and attraction of the Boston Marathon isn't the course at all. On a quiet run in Revere before heading into the city on Friday. I spotted hundreds of pots like these throughout the city. As Matt and I boarded a bus to the airport to get our rental car, surrounded by a sea ...

la chanson de ma vie: December 2014
http://ariavie.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
La chanson de ma vie. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. During a group run on Christmas Eve, I pulled off the path to snap yet another photo. "Oh here comes the camera! Big Bear Lake, Trinity Alps. Lee's Cabin, White Mountains, Alaska. Crater Lake, Oregon. Bear Basin Butte, Siskiyou Mountains. A yurt trip here, a cabin trip there, we maximized every second of Matt's weekend. We substituted several road miles in our training plan for trail ones and spent the month weaving through the Redwoods and climbing...

La chanson de ma vie. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. A Weekend in the Mountains, Part 2: Granite Peak. I wonder out loud. Before I know it, we're climbing the steep fire road to the Granite Peak trailhead. Granite Peak is on the left. We begin the arduous climb up the mountain. In the five miles to the top, the trail gains an impressive 4,500 ft. without a single reprieve. I find myself leading the way up the trail with a giant grin on my face. The "Too much coffee" selfie. Snack time, complete with photobomb.
