The 'Strong Thoughts: "What I did this summer"
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2011/08/what-i-did-this-summer.html
Views from a life in progress. Friday, August 26, 2011. What I did this summer". The stereotypical back-to-school question a student receives is this: What did you do this summer? As I am attending the first classes of my senior year at Lee University, I’m fully expecting to be asked that question at least 900 more times than I already have. The answer to said question brings to mind both happy and frustrating experiences at the same time. Went on a university trip to Germany and Austria for two weeks.

The 'Strong Thoughts: August 2011
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Views from a life in progress. Monday, August 29, 2011. Life, not-quite-near-death experiences, and choices. The way I see it, I had two choices when I began this new semester. I could do things the way I had always done them, or I could take my life experiences and learn from them. Let me back things up just a bit. Just over two weeks ago, I was in a car accident. I sincerely thank God for car brakes that work. As I am writing this, I have ice packs perched on my back and my neck to help with the pain I...

The 'Strong Thoughts: Staying in awe
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2010/07/staying-in-awe_12.html
Views from a life in progress. Monday, July 12, 2010. I love the age I am right now. I wouldn’t trade my years of experience for anything. Still, I hope I don’t forget to stop and smell the roses, look at the stars, or do whatever it is I need to do to keep myself from turning into a boring cynic who is never impressed by anything. I challenge you to not forget to do those things either. Carpe diem. Stick out that tongue of yours and marvel. Monday, July 12, 2010. July 14, 2010 at 9:58 PM. Of Mice and Me.

The 'Strong Thoughts: November 2008
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Views from a life in progress. Monday, November 3, 2008. Tomorrow is November 4. I know you're sarcastically thinking, "Yes, Christy, I know how to read a calendar! Still, it will not be a normal day. Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that tomorrow will be the day that the United States of America votes for its next president. This election is going to be a historic one. There are so many reasons why this is the case. This is also a critical point in history. We are at war. When I say no...

The 'Strong Thoughts: Summer goals
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2009/05/summer-goals.html
Views from a life in progress. Wednesday, May 27, 2009. I've never been one for New Year's resolutions. Why do I need to wait until a new year comes along to resolve to do something? This summer, even though I have a job, I still have a lot of free time on my hands. I've decided that I need to start doing something productive in my free time. The result of this decision? A list of summer goals. These are all things I've been meaning. A lot of it is making up for lost time. Learn to speak Spanish fluently.

The 'Strong Thoughts: January 2009
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Views from a life in progress. Saturday, January 31, 2009. On time as of late. Time management is a struggle with time. If that's the case, my life is dictated by struggle. Lately, I've been running myself ragged trying to keep up with a busy schedule. I was talking with some girls who live on my hall during Small Group, a time each week when we study the Bible and talk. Someone brought up the point that we need to pause and make time for things like spending time with God. Am I giving God my struggle?

The 'Strong Thoughts: July 2010
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Views from a life in progress. Thursday, July 22, 2010. Of Mice and Me. 8220;The best-laid plans of mice and men go oft awry.”. Yeah, that phrase is cliche’. But it still rings true. I have many grand ideas of what I’d like to see myself doing after graduation, but that does not mean a thing. BUT, there is hope, and that's a comfort. Having hope for the future requires one to place a great deal of trust in something. I choose to place my trust in God and what he has planned. So, I’m learning to tru...

The 'Strong Thoughts: March 2009
http://thestrongthoughts.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Views from a life in progress. Friday, March 20, 2009. I am learning to speak Spanish. I've been, um, pretty successful with it so far! I've taken a year of Spanish at the high school level and five semesters at the university level. I am, by no means, fluent, but I'm happy with the fact that I can now hold a short conversation with someone (albeit, with a very limited vocabulary). That being said, I wanted to share a thought with those of you who are also learning the language. Friday, March 20, 2009.

Hagermans on a MISSION!: To Camp or Not to Camp?
http://hagermans.blogspot.com/2015/02/to-camp-or-not-to-camp.html
February 16, 2015. To Camp or Not to Camp? When I first began teaching the 25 students of a special English language/culture program, they told me excitedly that one day we'd go to camp. There were stories of speaking English only for days at a time, and nervous giggles about how they'd ever be able to do that. Fast forward to almost two years later and it's time for that very camp. We loaded up on a bus- all of them plus me, the one "adult" of the crowd- to make a six-hour trip to the rustic campground.
