Debbie's Post: December 2013

Tuesday, December 31, 2013. I won't sugar coat it. 2013 was the worst year of my life and yet I am having a hard time letting it go. Another year past makes it that much longer since I have seen or heard my Mom, that much longer from the last call, the last hug, the last look. As others are saying, "Happy New Year" deep down I am thinking what is happy about it? I will enter another year without a special part of me. Life will never be the same. I will get through this. We always do, don't we? See, I did...

Friday, October 3, 2014. Day tripping close to home. 65279;. We started with the inside guided tour. It is filled with unique furnishings and rooms with beautiful views and two turrets. This was the gong that sounded the begin of our tour. Its loud gong could easily summon anyone from the surrounding gardens. These were the chaise lounges by the door we entered. The "Great Seat" facing to view the sun setting beyond Tom Ball Mountain. First was the dining room. President McKinley was a guest here.

Sunday, May 18, 2014. Black Rock State Park and more. Today we went to Black Rock State Park in Watertown. The picture above was our view from our picnic table. This picnic table was submerged in water-it doesnt look that way from the picture, but those leaves are all under water. This is where we ate- not. Though George did offer to take off his shoes and socks and roll up his pants to wade out there for a photo op. I just wasnt sure what was under those leaves and told him that was okay. Beautiful day ...

Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Day tripping to the Connecticut Shore. What a great place to stop by if you are in the area. Here are the pictures from there, but stay tuned below as our venture continued. 65279;. Even an outhouse becomes a bookstore! They provide you with a wagon to transport the books that you. Entrance way under the road to the boardwalk. If I remember correctly. However many there are, it's too many in my opinion but I go along with him. There is a bird sanctuary at Rocky Neck State Park.

Debbie's Post: July 4, 2015 walking the Barkhamsted Lighthouse Trail and an unexpected encounter

Saturday, July 4, 2015. July 4, 2015 walking the Barkhamsted Lighthouse Trail and an unexpected encounter. After our valiant attempt at a cookout, we ate in drizzle and then packed it in to waste an afternoon watching a four hour true story on TV. First stop was the cemetery. Now, you can see I am getting lazy in my writing when I realize I can just take a picture of the description. No sense putting it in my own words. The flags represented two from the Revolutionary War and two from the Civil War.

Debbie's Post: A mis-adventure at Sunny Brook Park.
http://debbiewash.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-mis-adventure-at-sunny-brook-park.html
Thursday, July 16, 2015. A mis-adventure at Sunny Brook Park. The trails were pretty well marked, so that was not a problem. Our memory of the trail map thought we would go around the pond which hinted that we may see a heron. Sadly, none of that but I did get startled more than once by frogs. We did see a beaver dam too. We stayed to the right of the trail avoiding all the rocks in the path. This is a bridge completed as part of an Eagle Scout project. Brook that the Boy Scout bridge went over. Such nea...

Wednesday, April 30, 2014. How do I sum up thirty-four years of working at the East Hartland Post Office? I didn't spend my entire working career at the USPS. I spent seven years at CG Insurance Company in three different positions but left there when my first child was born. When the USPS was offering their exam, I decided to take it. My first interview was actually for Norfolk, CT where we lived at the time but I didn’t get that job. The next postmaster later that same year was Mary Ransom. She was my ...

Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Today we started our maiden voyage at the Riverfront Miniature Golf course in the Unionville. Ice cream was an option, but since we got there at 10 am, we did not partake. It was interesting, though, that you could get as little as one ounce of ice cream for 50-75 cents depending on whether you got hard or soft-serve. What is an ounce? Being a rock hound, I loved the rock designs. Beautiful view of the river. The course was challenging and quite enjoyable. When we continue these...

Sunday, November 3, 2013. Veteran's Day Parade 2013, Hartford, CT. A picture is worth 1000 words, so I have about 10,000 "words" I can put here. I'll see how many this will let me download from the Veteran's Day Parade today. We heard it is the biggest Veteran's Parade in New England. Represented were not only Veterans of every war from our lifetimes but even back to the beginning of our country's birth- those who fought for our freedoms and liberties. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Blogs of my friends.
