Mrs. Claus Sews: May 2014
http://mrsclaussews.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Knitting, sewing, travel and grandkids! Saturday, May 3, 2014. Back in the Saddle. He came back from mushroom hunting (it's morel season in Montana) just after I finished the shirt. When he tried it on partly assembled he threw it over his shirt, which didn't give us a true estimate of fit. It was huge on him! The other shirt is cut out, but I'll dig out a smaller pattern and recut it. Stan is happy at least one of his birthday shirts is done-his birthday was in December! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Knitting, sewing, travel and grandkids! Sunday, September 14, 2014. Following in my Footsteps. Here she is at the machine. I had to keep reminding her to relax, but she is a good listener and did what I told her to do. She worked on the serger too, she thought that went awfully fast! Finished and looks great! Mrs. Claus Sews: Fun Stuff
http://mrsclaussews.blogspot.com/2015/03/fun-stuff.html
Knitting, sewing, travel and grandkids! Wednesday, March 25, 2015. We've had a really warm spring so far, actually our winter was pretty mild, a huge contrast to the eastern part of the United States. I've been selling a few things at the shop, but so far I'm just paying my rent. I've been working on some spring things, Deb said they're short on tiny girl's stuff. So I'm making some sun hats:. Today is a big day, I'm going to start teaching knitting! My first class is toe-up socks. I rewrote a patter...
Mrs. Claus Sews: Flowerbed Labor
http://mrsclaussews.blogspot.com/2015/05/flowerbed-labor.html
Knitting, sewing, travel and grandkids! Saturday, May 30, 2015. I did the digging on Tuesday but I conned Stan into helping on Thursday. I'm glad he did, what a big job! Second rain delay. We mostly shoveled mud. Landscape fabric down and ready to plant. 5 1/2 bags of bark later that included another trip to the garden center and it's done. Now just don't look too closely at the deck, it's very old and needs a good coat of stain, plus some repair work. Guess I know what's next. Wool Free and Lovin' Knit.
Mrs. Claus Sews: Morning Fog
http://mrsclaussews.blogspot.com/2015/06/morning-fog.html
Knitting, sewing, travel and grandkids! Wednesday, June 3, 2015. It's foggy in Manhattan this morning, I just had to snap this photo of the sun shining through it. Fog is fairly common here, we're pretty close to the Gallatin river. Makes me appreciate Montana's beauty. Im so happy to hear from you! I do moderate the comments before they post just in case. Mrs. Claus Cooks: June 2014

A quest to eat well in an allergen-laden world. Wednesday, June 18, 2014. I found out I'm completely intolerant of potatoes, which includes a lot of other starchy things, like tapioca, artichokes, jicama and all the potato derivatives. So here I am back at the drawing board! I am, however, very tolerant of chickpeas/garbanzos. And the bonus is they are so good for you, way higher in protein than grain flours. 1 cup chickpea flour. 1 cup water, plus more as needed. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I am a retir...
Mrs. Claus Cooks: March 2014

A quest to eat well in an allergen-laden world. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. I finally more or less perfected my cracker recipe after months of fooling around with ingredients. The recipe was originally for tortilla chips, but they were a boatload of work and super messy, so I set out to make it my own. 1 cup tapioca starch. 1 cup chickpea (garbanzo) flour. 1 tsp baking powder. 3 tablespoons cooking oil. 1 1/2 teaspoons ground flax seed. 1/4 cup cold water. Don't be afraid to load on the tapioca starch.
Mrs. Claus Cooks: October 2013

A quest to eat well in an allergen-laden world. Sunday, October 27, 2013. We harvested the rest of the garden yesterday, since a huge snowstorm is forecast to roll in tonight. So what do I do with a ten pound cabbage? Well, first I cut a chunk off, about a fourth of it. Then I gathered up some of the carrots that we dug yesterday. Then I made this yummy stew. 1 1/2 pounds coarsely cubed raw chicken. (I prefer boneless thighs.). 1 small cabbage cut in bite sized pieces (Or 1/4 of a monster). I am a retire...

A quest to eat well in an allergen-laden world. Friday, July 6, 2012. Decided to try adding more eggs to my muffin recipe. It worked pretty well. I waited to see if they were still good to eat the next day, and they're not bad so here is the recipe:. 1 3/4 cups flour (my current mix is 3/4 cup tapioca and 1/2 cup each potato starch and sorghum). 1 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1 stick butter, melted and slightly cooled. The extra eggs cause a cute little peak at the top. I eat a lot of mediocre stuff, too!
