Noshtalgia: Treacle scones

http://mrslsnoshtalgia.blogspot.com/2014/03/treacle-scones.html

Old food for new times. Wednesday, 5 March 2014. Very much a part of my growing up, these :) Easy to make, and good for you too. 2 good tablespoons black treacle. Rub butter into flour, mix to a scone consistency with treacle and milk; turn out on to lightly floured board, knead lightly, pat down and cut out. Bake in a hot oven for 10 or so minutes, cool on wire rack. Eat with butter and a cup of tea. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Noshtalgia: January 2014

http://mrslsnoshtalgia.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Old food for new times. Saturday, 25 January 2014. Got to be the traditional - haggis, champit tatties and bashed neeps. I managed to find a MacSweens haggis - the only one worth buying in my view; I usually make my own, but wasn't able to get hold of the required bits this year, so had this instead. usual pissed-offness at English folk taking the mick with terms like happy Haggis Day and such crud, they need a slap with a wet haddie so they do. Sunday, 19 January 2014. The Queen of muffindom. Dice some ...

Knitten: New project on the needles

http://mrsl-knitten.blogspot.com/2010/06/new-project-on-needles.html

Knitting life into the past. Sunday, 13 June 2010. New project on the needles. I've cast on for the July project - A shawl: good travel knitting - from Elizabeth Zimmerman's Almanac. The wool is a cone of fine almost laceweight I bought from the Guild sales table recently for pennies, and it's knitting up nicely so far. More nostalgic knitting in the pipeline :). 13 June 2010 at 15:36. Looking forward to reading you and seeing the shawl take shape! 30 July 2013 at 18:41. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Knitting life into the past. Thursday, 16 May 2013. Time to get going again! Been a long time,I know.Been ill enough to be hospitalised for 8 weeks, but took advantage of the latter weeks when I was well enough to work on this:. It's a replica of the sleeveless pullover worn by one of the lads in the BBC series Wartime Farm. I'm knitting it for a dear friend in Canada.Knitted in the round,I'm almost at the armholes now. Thoroughly enjoying knitting it.Wool and pattern from:. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Cailleach writes...........: December 2012

http://thecailleachwrites.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, 23 December 2012. Cry my heart out - inside out;. Sob for minutes, hours days. Release the hurt of fifty years. Don't try and stop the well of tears with. Platitudes and cliches, with empty words that seek. To smooth, to pacify and re-bury. Let me get it outside of myself,. Rid my heart and soul of the heavy weight conveyed. Within, slowly dripping, slowly chipping away,. Drowning from the inside. From a million cries confined,. Unlistened to, ignored by you and others. I know them well.

Knitten: Whoops........

http://mrsl-knitten.blogspot.com/2012/10/whoops.html

Knitting life into the past. Thursday, 18 October 2012. Been a long time again, Knitten! Needles taken up with other things I suppose. What with Wool Week and all, there's a been a huge amount going on, and I think out of all of them is the release by the Shetland Heritage Shop of some really beautiful retro kits - read about them here, nopoint in me typing it all out when they say it so much better:. Knitten: October 2009

http://mrsl-knitten.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Knitting life into the past. Thursday, 22 October 2009. Off we go again. RE-started the Sanquhar gloves, this time in traditional blacka nd white, on the new 1.5 mm very thin, very bendy needles! Very fine, this time, progrees will be slower, but interesting and unputdownable again already! Friday, 16 October 2009. And they're scarily small and thin! I started a Sanquhar group on Ravelry, which is proving quite popular. Http:/ www.ravelry.com/groups/sanquhar-knitting-group. Thursday, 15 October 2009.

http://thecailleachwrites.blogspot.com/2014/01/youre-so-vain.html

Wednesday, 22 January 2014. You logged on to your Facebook page. Like you were logging on to your life;. Your glass was full, your brain on hold,. You were ready for angst and strife. You had one eye on your messages. As you watched your newsfeed roll,. And all your 'friends' said that they would all love you,. Like all your photos, and. You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you. I'll bet you think this post is about you. You saw the pics of the dinners and kilts,. 22 January 2014 at 13:05.

Knitten: Update

http://mrsl-knitten.blogspot.com/2011/04/update.html

Knitting life into the past. Monday, 4 April 2011. MOving up to North Yorkshire has put another slant on my knitting - Dales knitting, Swaledale sheep, knitters in and around Richmond; I want to investigate the 'Swaledale glove' a bit more; to me it bears a resemblance to a Sanquhar glove, so excited about doing a bit more research on that. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The name "knitten" is an old lowland Scottish dialect word for "knitted" (adjective). Good and useful links.

Hats, cooking, stories, and more. Thursday, 10 March 2011. This is a blog I started a little after Christmas – it’s a bit late I know but, like the mega-shepherd’s pie I made last week and wasn’t finished up until this Tuesday, I didn’t want it going to waste. These are musings rather than recipes. I’ll get back onto them soon. 8220; I’m watching ‘Chopped’ on Food Network – three chefs are whipping up something sensual using rabbit, tapioca, carrots and fruit leather. This evening we feasted well:. And p...

Mrs L's Teaching Blog. About Mrs. L. Diary of a Substitute Teacher (Entry #1). I've enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know the wonderful staff in the school division. I've also been fortunate in that I've been back to the same schools over and over, which has allowed me to get to know the students. After all, that's what teaching, in any capacity, is all about . . . connecting with students. I'm going to do my best to blog more about my experiences as a substitute teacher. Mrs Stuart @ May Road School

Mrs Stuart @ May Road School. Friday, 14 August 2015. Well we have had two busy days back in London. On Wednesday we walked to Canary Wharf and spent the day looking around and doing a little shopping. My feet were quite tired by the end of the day but it was all good. Our visits were to Windsor Castle which is one of the residences of the Queen, to Bath which is the little town where the Roman Baths are and then go Stonehenge where the circle of stones are. It was an 11 hour trip in total. The view from...
