In Room 14 we use TouchMath. The following videos will give you a short introduction to TouchMath and TouchPoints. As you can see on the picture, each number has a set of points to correlate with the number's value. Students learn to touch the points to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Numbers from 1 to 5 have single TouchPoints and numbers from 6 to 9 have double TouchPoints or a combination. A single TouchPoint gets touched once, a double Touchpoint gets touched twice.

All students will be given a homework binder which they will be. Please check your child's backpack, homework binder, and assignment book daily and sign the daily assignment page. Homework assignments from my room should take no more than 30 minutes to complete daily. Students will be asked to complete spelling assignments on Mondays through Thursdays and read for at least 20 minutes a day. I do require a parent signature at the bottom of the reading log each week to receive credit. Forgot your homework...

30 Chapter Book Reading Challenge. I have an extensive classroom library and I encourage students to check out books which they are allowed to take home. I have many popular series available and will help students choose books which are appropriate for their reading abilities. Many of my students start with the "Tom and Ricky" series which is a remedial reading series for older students at a first to second grade reading level.

A lovely little lunch. October 17, 2016. Hey, I'm Cat! The moment both kids were in bed, I ran to the kitchen to sit down with my small plate of food like I was reuniting with a best friend. It was so nice to sit. But then I had to pee. Should I feel bad for wanting to be alone with my food, no one to snatch my grilled cheese and beg for chips?
