Tuesday, October 20, 2009. John Piechowski (born Joseph Johann von Piechowski) was born at Gowidlino near Gdansk in Poland on 13 March 1918. He escaped from Poland to Germany during World War II and lived out the war as an unpaid farm labourer. He arrived in Australia on 13 December 1949 as a refugee. He married Valerie Barker on 26 July 1952 and they have three children, Suzanne, Sharney and Kevin. There were three men whose job was to milk the 45 cows on the farm. In October 2011 I travelled without my husband, for the first time, to attend a conference in Melbourne. I had a friend accompany me as my “carer” and fellow conference attendee. This would be my first “adventure” as a disabled person. Er before in his brand-new taxi.

A couple of weeks ago I had a very interesting time at the Transverse Myelitis Awareness Day at Spinal Injuries Australia. It was very good to meet other people there who also have TM and find out about their history. In the USA, which has been going for 20 years.

Ecue but postponed it till the next day when the temperature had dropped to a tolerable 30degC. It was our first barbecue for 2014 and as usual it was delicious. Terry is great at doing barbecues.
