Tried, Tested and Tasty: healthy recipes to stay young. On the Mummy Wheel. Life as a PH doctor. The Virtues of Celtic Porridge. February 16, 2016. I recently rediscovered porridge. Maybe it’s the cold weather or maybe it was the post WW2 detective novel I was reading by the fire where the soon-to-be murdered man waxed lyrically about only a steel-cut oat will do of a frosty morning. Steel-what? 80g of Scott’s Porage Oats. 300ml of skimmed milk. Soak the oats in 200ml of the skimmed milk for 10 minutes.

Tried, Tested and Tasty: healthy recipes to stay young. On the Mummy Wheel. Life as a PH doctor. The Best Quickest Shepherd’s Pie Ever. November 17, 2016. 1-2 fistfuls of baby or chef carrots (this gives it a lovely texture, a bit different from sliced carrots). 1-2 fistfuls of frozen peas. 1-2 teaspoons French mustard. 1-2 teaspoons of tomato puree. 150ml single cream (alternatively you can use a mug of hot milk but the cream works really well with the flavours of the lamb). Top the meat with the mash a...

Tried, Tested and Tasty: healthy recipes to stay young. On the Mummy Wheel. Life as a PH doctor. November 17, 2016. 2-4 oz of wholewheat pasta per person (this pasta is more filling so it’s a good idea to measure it out; I find 2 oz is enough for me, hubby needs 4). 150g of cubed smoked pancetta (if cooking for 4; do half for 2 people). 1-2 fistfuls of frozen peas. 1 tablespoon of olive oil. A little bit of salt and pepper. Heat the oil in a small frying pan and add the pancetta. Cook until crispy. You a...

Banana Sugar free Flapjacks | eatyounger

Tried, Tested and Tasty: healthy recipes to stay young. On the Mummy Wheel. Life as a PH doctor. Banana Sugar free Flapjacks. March 2, 2016. I love flapjacks. I love them sticky, chewy and crunchy. One of life’s little pleasures is picking up a Moorish Oaty flapjack from Vauxhall’s Desserts Deli at the train station. Downside is they’re full of butter (i.e. saturated fat so not good for cholesterol) and sugar. So not good for the hips! 300g steel cut (Irish) oats (you can used rolled oats instead). Put t...
