Thoughts on a life well lived. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. Running for My Life. October 24, 2010. This post was written on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Airlie House, Warrenton, Virginia. Today is proof that running is not about running. After leaving three friends who were embarking on a 5-mile run, I jogged down the hill to meet another friend for a more civilized early morning 3-mile walk/run. No friend. Oh well, do I. Walk or do I run? I think I’ll keep running ...

Thoughts on a life well lived. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. December 17, 2012. Given the fact I have admitted to NO predilection to ponder the sky, it was surprising to me that Saturday I took a bold action in pursuit of a better look at the horizon — I pulled over to take a picture of some clouds. 8221; I thought. My mind wandered . . . “Had I become one of those die-hard Virginians who know zilch and care even less about Maryland? I wondered, as a copse of trees and some miscella...

It was hard not to attach meaning to everything, but we all kept it light. This entry was posted in All Categories. September 6, 2012 at 6:24 pm. September 6, 2012 at 7:38 pm.

SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: Skoolz Out and Life's Poetry
http://scoopmurphy.blogspot.com/2010/06/skoolz-out-and-lifes-poetry.html
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Friday, June 25, 2010. Skoolz Out and Life's Poetry. As many of you know, I am currently celebrating this portion of the academic calendar. WooHoo. Here I am, writing just a little early. Please know that I do it just for you, my sweet. On with the show:. I saw a sign today that read "Poetry is everywhere.". I have to agree. It is in the written word, movements, and even the food we experience on a daily basis. Does this man really need make up to impress you? The text color do...
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: SADDLE SHOES ARE BACK, BABY
http://scoopmurphy.blogspot.com/2010/12/saddles-shoes-are-back-baby.html
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Saturday, December 11, 2010. SADDLE SHOES ARE BACK, BABY. What is two-toned, come in a pair, and can take years off your life faster, and considerably cheaper, than plastic surgery? In less than ten minutes we were in Squirrel Hill, Dad was swearing at other drivers and we were all scouring the street for an unmanned parking meter. Eventually, we strolled down the wide sidewalk and window shopped before walking into this elegant shoe store. Then it happened and the day's events...
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: The Gospel According to Morgan: Chapter 3

SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Sunday, January 9, 2011. The Gospel According to Morgan: Chapter 3. Rule 13: NEVER GIVE ADVICE UNLESS IT IS REQUESTED. And even if it is requested, be gentle and ease into your message if it is harsh. Overall, personal opinions should be offered and not forced upon another. As a subset of this, be aware that everyone needs to be alone and given time to accept their own counsel. Rule 14: TOUCH AND FEEL COVER A MULTITUDE OF SINS. Morgan in his smoking jacket accompanied by Blarney.
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: Yesterday's Message
http://scoopmurphy.blogspot.com/2010/12/yesterdays-message.html
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Friday, December 10, 2010. Intuition is a powerful tool, if we heed its message. Sometimes that little voice in our head is a faint whisper. We are not too sure said much of anything until events fall into place. Other times it is an audible message that addresses us like an old friend. Reminding us to act or to sit back and witness rather than be a participant. Next voice is a loud shout mimicking a town crier. And it all together impossible to ignore. The Madonna and I didn't?
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: Status Report
http://scoopmurphy.blogspot.com/2010/12/status-report.html
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Monday, December 13, 2010. Don't have a big concept to report today aside from the fact that it is cold. It is really cold. Not as bad as it is in some other parts of the country, to be sure. There were some snowflurries, but they were nothing but show. So, a full day of school is in my future tomorrow. SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Thursday, December 30, 2010. THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MORGAN: Chapter 2. In view of ushering in 2011, it is good to take stock in ourselves and see where we are with regard to the quality of our lives. In keeping with what I've started, here is THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MORGAN, CHAPTER TWO. Rule 6: NEVER BACK SOMEONE INTO A CORNER. Give them a chance to change their standpoint or view. If that can't happen, try letting them off the hook. Allow them to save face. SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: High Mileage Food or Hi, Mileage Food?
http://scoopmurphy.blogspot.com/2010/07/high-mileage-food-or-hi-mileage-food.html
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Tuesday, July 13, 2010. High Mileage Food or Hi, Mileage Food? A few of you probably may think that protocol flirts with marginal behavior. I say to you that you have joined the ranks of Mr. Morrison. People displaying hard-core aberrant actions abound and your thoughts need to be directed toward them. For this, I am just the person to help you. Example 2: Back in the day, Brian Highland had the slow-dance hit. High on The Hill (song title and article on this topic). In this bo...

SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Friday, December 24, 2010. A Gift That Keeps on Giving: The Gospel According to Morgan. MORGAN, my dad. What a guy. As his Christmas gift this year, he is still chasing me with his advice even though he came to terms with his limited engagement here on Earth in 1990. Photo: Dad imitating Bing Crosby. Favorite buddy Blarney at his side. Circa 1979. Stay tuned as I share his thoughts with you over the next few blogs:. Rule 1: KEEP YOUR EXPECTATIONS LOW REGARDING FRIENDSHIP. When ...
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: THE IMPORTANCE OF DOING SOMETHING
http://scoopmurphy.blogspot.com/2010/12/importance-of-doing-something.html
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Thursday, December 9, 2010. THE IMPORTANCE OF DOING SOMETHING. I know, last time it was all about doing nothing. Now, here I am proposing the other end of the spectrum - THE IMPORTANCE OF DOING SOMETHING. Yesterday I was dinking about the internet as I am prone to do and stumbled upon an acquaintance’s writing. It had been awhile since visiting her site, so off I went for a reading reunion. In a recent article, GR wrote on Huffington Post. One of my last 45s: Instant Karma.
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN................: HAPPY NEW YEAR MEMORIES
http://scoopmurphy.blogspot.com/2010/12/happy-new-year-memories-and-chapter-3.html
SCOOP MURPHY WRITES AGAIN. Thursday, December 30, 2010. HAPPY NEW YEAR MEMORIES. We grew up in a neighborhood with Victorian era homes populated with neighbors who owned matching mentalities. The times were busy reflecting images in the shiny surface of Sputnic I. It was not without its flaws, but it was a magical time. One might think that enough, but why stop there? Once the last of the explosions and flared lights illuminated the back yard, and Mom stopped grasping at her throat, yelling to be careful...

Saturday, December 16, 2017. Our trip on the Polar Express railroad has me in a deep spiral of introspection. And how much fun it is to be on the other side of belief. I rented The Polar Express and watched it several times with both daughters this year. Then, I felt like the ultimate mom, finding tickets to a Polar Express EXPERIENCE! Riding on a real train? Drinking hot cocoa while arriving at the North Pole to see Santa? Yup, and we're gonna have so much FUN with it, babe," I reassured him. Time warp&...

Musings from Manila
My Interpretation of the World Around Me in Metro Manila. Thursday, 2 May 2013. These are some shots I did through the window of a taxi in Manila one evening. Traffic was at a virtual standstill, and I was happy for it, as I had always found this particular avenue to be fascinating. It is even more so at night than during the day. These are both in the book Musings from Manila! Links to this post. Monday, 24 September 2012. The Book Musings from Manila: A Philippine Photo Odyssey is Now Available! Ice Cr...
Wandering and Wondering
April 09, 2018. I can't tell you all how much your comments and caring mean to me. Thank you with all my heart. Mom is at home and in hospice care. Comfort measures only. The hospice nurses have been wonderful. They are tender and gentle, not only with Mom, but also with our Father. This has been extremely hard on Dad. When going to reposition her in the night, I find him asleep in a chair next to her hospital bed, both of them asleep and holding hands. Links to this post. March 24, 2018. March 13, 2018.

Did I say that out loud?
Brought back the old blog - some were searching for it, and I do like it so here it is. Saturday, July 16, 2011. Respite from the heat and changes in Life. Yeah, I know, she's adorable. Yeah, I know. There has to be more to talk about than the weather. Found some more notes for the second new novel I'm thinking of writing. Time is short, for all of us, and I'm always wishing I had more of it. Can you imagine how much time we've all wasted? Incredible; sad, too, so let's not go there. I did try to stop Fa...
